Who loves loopholes when they help HIM? …Obama

Talk about a guy who loves loopholes.  Well, I guess he only loves loopholes when he can exploit them.

While President Obama has droned on ad nauseum about the so called “gun show loophole” and the internet gun sales loophole and anything else he doesn’t like about the 2nd Amendment calling it a loophole, he doesn’t seem to have an issue exploiting a loophole of his own.

No, I’m not talking about how Obama declared that the Individual Mandate of Obamacare wasn’t a tax but is only Constitutional as one.

No, there is one loophole that has come up rather recently that the Obama administration has jumped feet first into and ironically enough it has everything to do with guns and revolution.

While Obama doesn’t believe that US Citizens have the right to keep and bear arms in order to defend themselves against tyranny, he has no problem whatsoever about Muslim countries in the middle east doing just that.

Now, Obama’s support of the Arab spring and its destabilizing effects in the region is hypocritical at best but not a loophole.  The loopholes come into play when he tries to explain away either his actions or inactions.

Obama wants to start arming Syrian Rebels.  These rebels count half of their numbers as Al Qaeda  insurgents.  Loophole…we’re only going to arm the GOOD rebels.  That is just a loophole around logical thought and common sense.

But Obama does take a foray into legal loopholes as well.  The recent coup in Egypt presents a conundrum for the President.  By law, if he declares that a coup took place in Egypt then all foreign aid that we send them must stop.  Yet he wants to continue sending aid there (because you know, things are so peachy keen here with our economy).

It was  a coup.  We know it, they know it, everyone knows it.  Yet in the legal judo that the President and his administration seems to be becoming proficient at his official stance is this:

“Egypt serves as a stabilizing pillar of regional peace and security and the United States has a national security interest in a stable and successful democratic transition in Egypt.  The law does not require us to make a formal determination as to whether a coup took place, and it is not in our national interest to make such a determination.”

Read it twice if you have to because the gall of this President is pretty astounding.  The Administrations stance is that “we like Egypt, and even though a coup took place if we don’t call it a coup we can still keep doing what we want and you can’t make us call it a coup”.

On July 3, Egyptian armed forces deposed legally elected President Mohammed Morsi and imprisoned him, following massive street protests.  I can imagine if that was done here and Obama found himself in a cell he sure as hell would be calling it a coup.

Yet, due to a loophole the Administration doesn’t have to call it one.

Yet somehow, me legally buying a shotgun from a guy at a gun show is the end of the world.

Didn’t Nixon get in hot water for saying this:

I guess if Obama does it it’s not a loophole.
