Let’s Talk About “New York Values”

New York Values has been in the news recently as a hammer that Donald Trump is attempting to beat over Ted Cruz’s head.  You see, while on campaign, Ted Cruz has decried Trump as being a product of New York Values.

That term is being construed a lot of different ways by Trump and anti-Cruz forces in order to make it seem like Ted Cruz was talking about New Yorkers.  He wasn’t.  He wasn’t being anti-semetic, he wasn’t knocking the response to 9/11, to insinuate otherwise is either ignorant or patently dishonest.

Being born in the Bronx and living in New York until I left for college, never to permanently return, I new EXACTLY what Ted Cruz was talking about when he spoke of New York Values.

New York Values are the statist, high taxed, government controls your life, religion is met with ridicule, guns only for the important people, do as I say not as I do, ultra liberal hypocrisy and nastiness that runs both New York city and to a lesser extent upstate.

The tax rate for New York City is 8.875%

Stop and Frisk was actually a thing here, silly 4th Amendment

The Brooklyn Museum proudly displayed a painting of the Virgin Mary covered in elephant dung on the taxpayers dime

Want a gun permit in New York City?  Pony up $340 for the application, $105  for the fingerprinting and then wait up to 8 months and if you are denied say goodbye to the nearly $450 you just wasted.  And if you are “important” enough to get approved you are now allowed to own a gun.  Now you have to get a PURCHASE AUTHORIZATION.  That’s right, not only can you ONLY buy one handgun every 90 days but you have to ask the city if they will allow you to buy one.  The process takes 45-60 days.

So right now, from the point of you wanting to exercise your God given 2nd Amendment rights, New York Values has deemed that you need to pay $450 and wait up to ten months in order for them to decide whether they will LET you do so.

And after you get your gun you must bring it to 1 Police Plaza to be “inspected.”  Basically they want to see if its NY legal and to register it and write down the serial number.  That makes it much easier when they pass another SAFE Act and want to confiscate your guns.

Lets not forget when New York Values trumps hard work and earning of a position.  I’m speaking of Wendy Tapia, who is set to become a female firefighter in the city.  Do I have something against female firefighters?  Nope…so long as they can do the same job as their male counterparts.  But Ms. Tapia failed her Physical Fitness Test SIX TIMES!!!!  Mayor De Blasio pressured the Fire Department to pass her because he puts diversity and liberal ideaology over the lives of Firefighters.  She’s not the only one as Rebecca Wax also is set to become a firefighter even though she failed her Functional Skills Training test, a grueling obstacle course of job-related tasks performed in full gear with a limited air supply.  There are 44 women firefighters who passed the test.  Yet New York Values dictate that passing standards isn’t necessary so long as you feel like you can do the job.  New York Values are going to get good people killed.

Speaking of Firefighters, do you remember this iconic photo from the aftermath of 9/11?

That was a moment that I personally will never forget.  But it wasn’t New York Values that inspired these three firefighters to raise old glory in defiance of our enemies.  It was American Pride.  New York Values is what happened AFTER.

You see, this image was so powerful and lasting that not only was a stamp commissioned but also a statue was to be made honoring the moment.  But instead of letting history, facts and the truth get in the way New York Values decided to change all that in order to be inclusive.  As you can see in the photo the three men are all white.

In December 2001, the New York City Fire Department unveiled plans for a statue based on the photograph to be placed at the Brooklyn headquarters. In an effort to be inclusive of all those who had been affected by the tragedy, the statue was to include black, white, and Hispanic firefighters. The change in ethnicity from the actual firefighters, all of whom are white, proved controversial enough that the statue was never built.

So instead of honoring the moment, New York Values hijacks it and is so rejected that the statue is never made.

Want to see New York Values in action in city government?

The feds are probing the cozy relationships two wealthy businessmen had with top cops; how another merchant with NYPD ties allegedly launched a $12 million Ponzi scheme; and exactly how the mayor and his former campaign treasurer solicited campaign cash from the real-estate industry.

So yeah, with a corrupt city, trampling on my rights, high taxes bleeding me dry and being conservative, a Christian and a free thinker being marginalized by a liberal cabal of hate fueled hyprocrites…it is little wonder I fled for the Free Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?

When my western PA friends ask about New York i tell them I am a New Yorker by birth and a Pittsburgher by choice…for good reason.

But I digress.  Now all the liberal hatemongers, plus Donald Trump, seeking cover as someone has pulled up the rock that they scurry under to call it as it is in New York, try to find safety in numbers and say that Ted Cruz was attacking all New Yorkers, or Jews, or the firefighters at ground zero.

That’s a whole lot of bull.  Because a lot of New Yorkers know EXACTLY who Ted Cruz was talking about and they agree with them.  Ted Cruz believes in a strong Israel; while hearing the liberals espousing New York Values would bend over backwards to kow tow to Islamic Terrorists.  He knows that that many New Yorkers have good conservative values, who pick themselves up by their bootstraps, who work an honest day for an honest wage and who just want to be treated fairly and not “special.”

Plenty of New Yorkers hate New York Values too.

Unless you are on the government’s teat:

As The Post’s Rich Calder reported Friday, the city’s welfare rolls in October reached a nine-year high of 373,504, up nearly 8 percent since de Blasio took office…

Under Giuliani, that meant requiring able-bodied welfare recipients to seek work and helping them do so — policies Bloomberg continued, leading to a 70 percent cut in the welfare rolls.

But de Blasio and Banks see no difference between earning money from an employer and collecting it from the taxpayers, calling that “an ideological hang-up.”

They’re wedded to reviving a culture where finding someone a job makes less sense than providing ineffective “education and training,” where requiring any sort of personal responsibility is “demeaning.”

That last sentence pretty much sums up the New York Values Ted Cruz was talking about.  The values that Progressive zealots like Mayor De Blasio have forced down the throats of New Yorkers.

If people are getting angry at New York Values, it should be because they EXIST in the first place, not because Ted Cruz had the guts to call them out on it.
