FINALLY, Gun Grabbers (Katie Couric and co.) Are Being Sued For Lying

Katie Couric and her cohort in the sham documentary “Under the Gun” Stephanie Soechtig are having to face the monetary fire for their nefarious and underhanded approach in misrepresenting a group of people that didn’t fit into their radical anti-gun narrative.

Hopefully you haven’t been subjected to watching this ludicrous notion of an “objective look” at guns in America.  Not only is it completely skewed to make gun control seem like the only possible option to save America, but Couric and Soechtig conspired to make it look like the pro-2nd Amendment people videoed were idiots and unable to answer Couric’s questions.

I have long since given up on any type of truthfulness from our opponents when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.  They will skew stats, speak in hyperbole, hoist ignorance like a virtue and all in all just be pretty dishonest about things.

But what Couric and Soechtig did goes beyond the pall.  They invited members of the Virginians Citizens Defense League to be in the documentary and then edited the tape to add long silences to Courics questions to make it seem like the VCDL folks didn’t have answers to her questions.

A clip in the film appears to show nine seconds of silence after Couric asks them, “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”

Audio released to the Washington Free Beacon in May reveals membersimmediately answering a similar question posed by Couric, with no delay.

That’s only the half of it.  Couric, after the truth came out and had so much egg on her face she could be made into the world’s biggest omelette, admitted that the film was misleading and misrepresented the VCDL.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand then did NOTHING to fix the situation.

A statement from the VCDL President Phillip Van Cleeve:

“Katie Couric has publicly admitted that the film, which was presented to VCDL as a ‘documentary,’ was misleading and misrepresented VCD. However, Couric and the other filmmakers have refused to fix the film or to even stop promoting and distributing it. The only way to hold Couric accountable was to file a lawsuit.”

And what a lawsuit it is, a whopping $12 MILLION for the defamation of the VCDL members who appeared in the documentary.  The VCDL suit claims Couric and Soechtig “knowingly and maliciously manufactured the fictional exchange by splicing in footage that the filmmakers took surreptitiously after telling the interviewees to be silent for ten seconds so that recording equipment could be calibrated.”

That right there is damning.  This isn’t some post filming choice made on a spur of the moment whim.  Couric and Soechtig knew what they were planning to do from the outset and conspired in their transgression in order to embarrass and humiliate the VCDL participants through movie magic since those participants were too well educated and articulate on the matter in serve the anti-gun narrative.

Here’s to hoping that they win their case and continue to illustrate just how corrupt and deceitful the gun grabbing left is and how there is no depth that bottom feeders like Couric and those of her ilk will go in order to make it seem like gun control is a good idea.
