Starbucks CEO Shultz wants his overpriced macchiato and drink it too regarding guns

I never said Starbucks had to be pro-gun. I completely accepted and respected their not taking a position in the gun/no-gun conversation with regards to their store. Respecting state law in regards to whether firearms were allowed in their stores seemed perfectly reasonable and while I didn’t count them among business that support the 2nd Amendment outright I still appreciated the logical reason and lack of hostility they showed to gun owners. CEO Howard Shultz basically crapped all over that. I don’t want to mischaracterize Starbucks stance, they will not kick you out if you are carrying a firearm. They just want you to know that you are not welcome in their store and they strongly advise you not to bring your firearm with you. Apparently Shultz does not care for the numerous “Starbucks Appreciation Days” that 2nd Amendment supporters have been fostering. That’s fine.  I for one WILL...

Blood runs on US Military Bases Because Bill Clinton Made It So

(Update/Edit at the bottom) I get sick and tired of gun controllers who give a smirk when they stick their nose in the air and pontificate about how they think “more guns less crime” is “proven wrong” when a shooting occurs on a military installation. The latest two examples, Ft. Hood and the DC Naval Yard, found these snooty civilian deep-thinkers practically clucking about the amount of guns located on a military installation not being enough to stop a mass shooter. I get upset not because they are right, but because they are so sickeningly wrong and their asinine assumptions are easily gobbled up by the uneducated. You see, thanks to President Bill Clinton, in 1993 one of Clinton’s first moves against the 2nd Amendment was to disarm military personnel while on base.  Setting aside the irony that a draft dodger was issuing commands to the military, this action heralded the truth...

Sending heat rounds downrange with a bun in the oven

Got wind of a story from our friend at GirlsJustWannaHaveGuns.com, Regis Giles, about a young pregnant woman who used a handgun to shoot at and scare off two home invaders who busted down her door. “Alex” (named changed for safety) didn’t like the idea of her husband buying a gun and having one around the house.  Fortunately for her, her husband would not be swayed about protecting his family and he properly instructed her on how to use the sidearm. In her own words: [youtube=http://youtu.be/4pgwpYWPUEY?t=40s] A few funny things I take away from that, not funny haha mind you but funny hmmmm.  These burglars were in her home and 911 was on the phone.  Without that gun that she was so against when her husband bought it 7 months earlier this scenario ends differently.  As they say, when seconds count the police are minutes away.  I’m glad “Alex” came around...

THIS is how the Federal Government will get a National Gun Registry

With steady wins and progress, the 2nd Amendment has been sludging through the mire of gun control muck to strengthen itself in most states.  On the federal level, Obama and his gun control cadre do not have the juice to push for hard, gun rights-infringing legislation. So they have decided to attack privacy in more general terms, so they can worm their way into achieving one of their biggest goals and one of the most dire threats to the 2nd Amendment; a National Gun Registry. But as I said, the 2nd Amendment pro gun movement has been kicking ass and taking names lately so how exactly is Obama and his gun grabbing groupies planning on doing this?  Well, they certainly aren’t going to say the word “Gun” or “Registry”.  They are going to say “Credit Card”. Ever hear of the Consumer Financial Protection Board? Sounds like a innocuous and...

Is it me or are Gun Controllers becoming more cartoonish the more they lose?

Remember those old Wile E Coyote and Road Runner cartoons?  The Road Runner would be flying around, enjoying his freedom with the liberty that his speed gave him while Wile E Coyote would try and stop him with convoluted and illogical contraptions and plans. I cannot help but draw a comparison to gun controllers who, especially after losing, come up with some of the most asinine explanations for the loss as well as further propagating the idea that the next giant slingshot or rocket powered roller skates are going to work. Recently, with the loss of 2 gun control state senators, Giron and Morse, anti-liberty governor Hickenloper came out with this gem: “Politics revolves around certain issues how people talk about them and how people’s emotions respond to them and often perceived reality more important than the facts” I’m sorry, but didn’t this whole thing came about because, like...

Mayor Bloomberg’s endorsement; the touch of death?

Money can buy you a lot of things but apparently it can’t buy you love. Even after contributing $350,000 of his own money (by himself equaling the total of those in favor of recall) and using his MAIG henchmen to try and save Morse and Giron in their bid NOT to become the first politicians ever to be recalled from office in the state of Colorado, Bloomberg was getting no love from Angela Giron. Last weekend Giron was asked what it would mean if, despite his efforts, Bloomberg and his group were unable to deliver and protect her’s and Morse’s jobs.  Giron responded: “For Mayors Against Illegal Guns, if they lose even one of these seats, they might as well fold it up and they understand that.” Though I would argue that Bloomberg and MAIG understand anything I think Giron has a point.  By failing to protect either of...

9/11/13 : Twelve years of letting the terrorists win

I’m going to sidestep the normal gun heavy discussion I tend to have and focus on my Libertarian roots. I cannot help but look at the past twelve years and see all that we lost.  Starting with the 2700+ killed in New York, the 343 fire fighters who died in the line of duty, those in the pentagon and those in the plane that struck it. Then I think of Flight 93 and the heroes on board.  The first and the last victory the people of this country had against the war on terror. Because everything afterward has been a continued and steady victory for terrorism. See, when terrorists commit to something, dying is pretty much a moot point.  Therefore killing them doesn’t actually change the scoreboard.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for killing terrorists, but that is just a show to cover the continuing defeats that we...

Colorado recall: Is you or is you ain’t my constituency?

UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM First, let me say that I am excited about the Colorado recall election today.  I love to see representative democracy at work.  The kind that exists in a Republic in which those elected are held accountable to those they represent. Furthermore, despite the lawsuits and strong arm tactics that those who are subject to the recall tried to put forth in order to deny democracy it’s due, liberty will have her day. But with all the hoopla and hyperbole on this election, one might miss what is actually on the line with today’s election. The answer is: a small pebble. Huh?!?! Allow me to elaborate. If the recall succeeds then tangibly, two anti gun sitting members of the Colorado general assembly get replaced by vocally pro gun candidates. That’s about the extent of it.  The General assembly doesn’t change majority, there is no immediate revocation...

You shouldn’t have to ask permission for digging a hole in your yard or owning a gun

The 2nd Amendment doesn’t grant me the right to keep and bear arms. No, really, not being sarcastic. The fact that I am living, endowed with inalienable rights by my creator, of which is the right to defend myself against harm and tyranny is what gives me the right to keep and bear arms. The 2nd Amendment only states that truth and tells the government that they are not allowed to infringe upon that truth. Not like the government listens all the time. Regardless, you shouldn’t have to ask the governments permission to exercise a right that you have by natural law. With thinking about all these inalienable rights I can’t help but remember the first draft of the Declaration of Independence used John Locke’s phrase “Life, Liberty and Property”.  I guess it is more poetic to say “pursuit of happiness”. But do we own our property?  Or really,...

Military Style Raid to check the water…what did you think the Federal Gov was going to use that billion bullet stockpile on?

Chicken Alaska…no, it’s not some savory culinary dish a la chicken alexander but rather a small gold mining town with a population of 17. The members of this town were treated to a rather rude awakening when their little slice of the last frontier was descended upon by a cavalcade of Federal and State agencies.  Or more accurately, the Federal Agencies descended while bringing on some token State agencies in order to make it look less like an invasion and subjugation of state sovereignty. This raid, in which the agencies involved (10) nearly outnumbered the residents of the town (17) is somehow trying to be spun that it was not a raid. Let me stress one point about the previous sentence.  The number of AGENCIES nearly eclipsed the population of the town, not the number of agents which was likened by a resident as a swarm of ants. “Imagine...

The Gun Controllers’ Nightmare…Real Tales of Self Defense with a Firearm

Gun Controllers say that law abiding gun owners NEVER stop crime.  They talk in hyperboles that reduce a law abiding person with a gun during a violent encounter to either a catatonic drooling simpleton who will freeze or a trigger happy cowboy who will shoot everyone in site. And of course the liberal gun hating press goosesteps right along with that notion.  Maybe it’s solely for ideological reasons, maybe it has to do with sensationalizing death for ratings but the truth is there are THOUSANDS of massacres that are stopped every year because someone has a gun. The gun grabbing zealots like to deny this truth simply because the absence of dead bodies somehow doesn’t convince them that gun owners save lives.  Lets say a teacher at Sandy Hook elementary was armed and killed the intruder before he killed anyone, say he only managed to wound a few kids....

Gun owners act with class…the hateful left acts with crass

Depending on where you live, the chances are you have come across those who disagree with your choice to exercise your right to keep and bear arms.  There is also a chance you have found businesses that do not recognize your 2nd Amendment rights. There are plenty of those of the “tolerant” left who have causes they believe in as well. The difference between in how gun owners react to rejection and the way those of the hateful left is quite telling. If a business is anti-gun, we as gun owners will most likely avoid it in order to support another company that believes in the 2nd Amendment.  We’ll let others in our community know that a certain business is anti-gun and may even reach out to that business to let them know that they are losing business but it doesn’t extend further than that. Then you have the...

Rocky Mountain Showdown, T-Minus 1 week

It’s not often that September brings election day excitement like that found currently in Colorado.  With the recall election of two anti-liberty state senators, the stage is set for an election on September 10th that will reverberate throughout the country. What is at stake for both Colorado and the rest of the country? The very fundamental basis of representative governance.  In that, are elected officials free to disregard the will of their constituency and pass unconstitutional laws that restrict the rights of said constituency? A lot of people say that is what we have elections for, but what if actions are so egregious, or the governance is so inept and damaging that waiting for terms to end may cause irrevocable harm? This is what the ability to recall is meant for.  And shame on those who find themselves on the wrong side of recalls who say otherwise. People like...

Happy Labor day…no, not you unions…but to those who labor

First and foremost, if you find yourself with a job during this Obama driven economic malaise, congratulations. Secondly, the idea of Labor day to celebrate Unions bothers me.  Perhaps that stems from my dealings with being FORCED to join a union and in doing so having the amount of money I was paid limited since excellence cannot be rewarded.  That always struck me as un-American.  And the fact that the MLB Players union has all but destroyed the game a time or two doesn’t help either. But I digress. As the majority of Americans celebrate Labor by ironically not working, I would like to take a moment to thank those around the world who labor in order to maintain our way of life. No, i’m not talking about pre-teen sweat shop workers in China who make your Nike’s or the peasant farmhands who grow exotic fruits. I’m talking about...

This holiday weekend, hit the shooting range and patron pro gun businesses…here’s how.

If, like many Americans you find yourself on a long weekend, be it near home or on a trip, here are 2 sites that you might want to consult in order to maximize your enjoyment this holiday. For anyone who shoots on a regular basis you probably know where all the ranges are near your house.  But what about when you are visiting family or friends, or just out of town on vacation? Well, if you are in need of finding a range to squeeze off some rounds look no further than wheretoshoot.org This site gives you a list of ranges that you can easily find either by state or zip code.  The site even breaks down the ranges by what they offer and provide, such as Archery, handgun, rifle, retail, rental, women or youth programs etc. Not only that, if you have a range that you like and...

Obama only cares if you get shot BEFORE you can beat a man to death.

While some of the circumstances are different in regards to the Trayvon Martin attempted murder of George Zimmerman and the actual murder of Delbert Belton at the hands of Demitrius Glenn and Kenan Kenard, I find some things rather telling in their respective fallouts. Most notably, the deafening silence by those who were so outraged by Trayvon Martin being stopped before he killed Zimmerman.  If it wasn’t for the internet reporting on the death of Delbert Belton I doubt many would ever have heard about it.  It’s not like the “mainstream” media is covering it with circus-like aplomb. And heaven forbid if anyone even hinted at the idea that two black street thugs killed an 88 year old white man based in part because of racism. Also, did you even know the names of Demitrius Glenn and Kenan Kinard before you read this?  I recall Martin and Zimmerman being...

Spokane Police Chief Straub prefers you just roll over and take it

In a story that enraged me so much I took a night to calm down so this article wouldn’t be laced with f-bombs and other expletives, Spokane Police Chief Frank Straub blames 88 year old WWII vet Delbert Belton for his own death. How did this octogenarian cause his own death?  Did he hurl racist comments at two black teens?  Did he follow them around and make them uncomfortable?  Did he start the fight and/or threaten the thugs? No.  According to Chief Straub, Delbert Belton caused his own death because he had the audacity to fight back when he was being robbed.  Straub basically is letting the two killers off the hook because they really just wanted to do a quick robbery but that uppity old guy just had to make trouble. No…seriously.  In Straub’s own words: “Our information is that the individual (Belton) fought back and that may...

Bloomberg…dude…when no one shows up perhaps 90% just ain’t so

Bloomberg’s dog and pony show, aka No More Names Bus Tour, has a bit of a logistical problem.  No one is showing up. In case you haven’t heard of this bus tour, it is a bus with a bunch of names of people killed by firearms that Bloomberg says he is honoring (like the Boston Marathon Bomber) and the gun ctonrollers drive across the country and try to hold rallies to push their agenda. The funny part is that in order not to be overwhelmed by people who believe in liberty and freedom the bus tour doesn’t actually announce publicly where it is going to be.  It just kind of shows up and hopes that the magical “90%” of Americans who agree with them will show up. What they get is more like this: Atlanta Des Moines Minneapolis Chester PA Missoula, MT (the above picture isn’t of her alone...
