Common sense returns to RI’s General Assembly

Despite the machinations of Gov. Lincoln Chafee, House Speaker Gordon Fox, Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed and Attorney General Peter Kilmartin the law abiding citizens of Rhode Island will not be dragged over the coals and have their constitutional rights infringed. The aforementioned cabal of gun grabbing officials supported a series of gun control measures that would have served no purpose but to deny and infringe upon the law abiding right to keep and bear arms.  Among these misguided measures was an “assault” weapons ban, increase the bureaucracy and red tape in order to get a handgun permit and a $100 PER GUN registration scam. Thanks to a motivated and vocal opposition that staged huge protests at the steps of the Statehouse the bills to price gouge and infringe were left to languish and die in the Assembly. What did pass though were some reasonable measures aimed at punishing criminals...

Happy Birthday America

I was initially going to use this time in order to remind us all of everything that we have lost in the past 237 years.  The loss of privacy, the loss of working without our labor being taxed,  the loss of freedoms as they were chipped away at etc. But this is not the day for such things.  Today is a day to celebrate all that America is.  Even with terrible governance, big brother tracking our every move and a cowardly court system, America is still great. In the movie, “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” Harold and Kumar run across a fictionalized George W Bush.  The boys tell Bush that they don’t think they can believe in their government anymore.  To this Bush replies: Trust the government? Heck, I’m in the government and I don’t even trust it. You don’t have to believe in your government to...

Don’t count on the courts to uphold the 2nd Amendment

Often times I hear believers in the 2nd Amendment too easily scoff off defeats in elections, legislation or trials in lower courts saying, “it’s Constitutional so eventually the courts will rule in my/our favor”. Much like using deadly force is a last resort, so too should we begin to understand that the court system should be a last resort as well.  Believers in the 2nd Amendment should work hard and fervently in getting candidates who actual believe in what the 2nd stands for elected so that they can put forth pro-gun legislation that expands and strengthens the 2nd Amendment. We should work hard to elect executives that appoint judges that actually believe AND  understand what the 2nd Amendment is and take to heart what “shall not be infringed” is talking about. We need to hustle and get out for the small elections in order to elect sheriffs and lower...

Gabby Giffords launches July 4th tour attacking the 2nd Amendment

Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly are spending the upcoming holiday week on tour attempting to rewrite history. Firstly, they are going to try and rewrite their own personal history and go from gun grabbing crusaders to people who value and appreciate the 2nd Amendment. Secondly, they are going to try and rewrite Manchin-Toomey and try to convince gun owners in America that it was a non infringing fully positive bill. And finally, they are, like most gun grabbing activists are going to try and rewrite history to make the 2nd Amendment about muskets and hunting and not about the fail-safe measure against tyranny. Ever since leaving congress after getting shot in the head, Gabrielle Giffords has been on a crusade to see the Second Amendment curtailed and the freedom it allows to fall victim to government regulation.  She uses, ironically, the straw man argument of the “powerful...

15 lbs per sq inch. The Mendoza line of armed self defense?

15 pounds per square inch.  That is the force required to crack open the human skull.  Doesn’t sound like much does it?  That’s because it isn’t.  But is it enough of a reason to defend yourself with a gun?  Does it cross the Mendoza line? That is the question now being argued in the George Zimmerman case since the prosecution’s main witnesses basically blew up in his face.  The first, Rachel Jeantel, alluded that Martin was spoiling for a fight since he noticed a “creepy ass cracker” was following him.  The second, John Good, described the scene he witnessed with Trayvon Martin atop Zimmerman raining blows down upon him, “ground and pound style”. So we find ourselves with a neighborhood watch captain, investigating a stranger in the neighborhood and then calling the police to report it, on his back being bludgeoned by a  middleweight. This is the moment.  This...

The Journal News invasion of gun owners privacy: Round 2

The Journal News is once again seeking to acquire gun owners information and addresses in Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties.  This is a rehash of the action they took last year when they published the names and addresses of legal law abiding gun owners in December to try and ostracize  gun owners. Ironic, that the workers at the Journal News did not seem to enjoy the same treatment when their addresses and information was made available online. You can see if a Journal News employee lives in your neighborhood here: Google Interactive Map of Journal News Employees In December, the Journal News employees were so frazzled that THEIR information was made public that they required therapists to come in to try and calm them and the JN paid for that as well as extra security. Last I heard, the Journal News did not pay for the therapy of the...

No-knock warrants in a lawfully armed Nation

Let’s begin with a definition. No-knock warrant: a warrant issued by a judge that allows law enforcement officers to enter a property without immediate prior notification of the residents, such as by knocking or ringing a doorbell The no-knock warrant is a “evolution” of police procedures brought on by the war on drugs.  The rationale is that if you announce yourself before entering a property, evidence (mostly drugs) can be flushed down the toilet or otherwise disposed of.  So instead of ringing the doorbell, they either kick down or blow up your front door and pop in smoke grenades and bum rush your house. While it is logical to understand that the element of surprise stops criminals from disposing of evidence, but what about the THOUSANDS of other times when a warrant is served at the wrong address? Children terrified, dogs shot, homes destroyed etc etc.  I guess innocent until proven guilty...

What the DOMA ruling means for the 2nd Amendment

The Supreme Court has ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional and as such homosexual couples will be recognized by the federal government. The court ruled that the Federal Government had no right to regulate or fail to recognize the rights of gay couples to marry in a state that allows it. I find this very interesting.  You see, the liberal justices, with Justice Kennedy joining them, have just said that the Federal Government cannot deny the rights of a citizen in a state that recognizes said rights. This is interesting because when it comes to an actual right (marriage in the eyes of government is about tax breaks and power of attorney), one that shall not be infringed , the federal government doesn’t seem to have any problem trying to trample it underfoot.  They may not find it so easy to do in the future thanks to...

The History and Hypocrisy of Jim Carrey – a buffoon who talks from his ass in real life too

In case you haven’t heard, Jim Carrey has been desperately trying to climb back into the public eye.  Ever since his butt talking and pun heavy shtick grew cold he has tried in vain to recapture some of the fame and media attention. Like political ghouls before him such as Bloomberg and Obama, Carrey has used the death of innocent children to foster his own resurgence into the public eye. Carrey is listing the tragedy at Sandy Hook elementary as the reason he is condemning his new movie that he has a supporting role in, “Kick Ass 2”.   Carrey tries to side step his own hypocrisy in profiting from a character who glorifies the use of gun violence by saying that it was filmed one month before Sandy Hook and because of that he is now anti-gun and regrets taking the part. But is that the truth?  Did...

A tale of two cities, one with victims, one with citizens

This past weekend has once again replayed both the triumph of gun rights and the tragedy of gun control as it relates to the average citizen. Two men, nearly 1000 miles apart, facing two strikingly similar situations, find the outcome drastically different thanks to the city in which they live. The first man, Giovanni Donancricchia was a pizzeria owner in Chicago.  The second man was just a guy waiting in line for a store to open in order to buy a pair of sneakers. On Friday morning, after closing up shop from a busy Thursday night, Giovanni faced a life or death situation as a armed robber broke in through the back door and went to the cash register where Giovanni’s wife, Angela was working.  Giovanni, physically confronted the man and bought Angela enough time to run out the back.  Giovanni rushed after his wife, when he turned to see...

The Pointlessness of Gun Control and Necessity of Gun Rights Illustrated

In my internet cruising I have come across a great many interesting people and artists from around the world.  One of my favorites is a bi-weekly webcomic written in Germany but which takes place in the US. The title of the comic is Sandra and Woo.  Its a Calvin and Hobbes type story about a girl and her talking raccoon.  Hi-jinks occur.  The reason I’m bringing this up today is that the author, Oliver Knorzer, has been on a bit of a pro gun rights kick as of late.  I’m not sure if it is by accident or not  but I wanted to share nonetheless. The first illustrates the futility of gun free zones in an interesting way: How simple is that?  Any item, in the hands of someone willing to use it can be turned into a weapon.  Should we have pencil control?  Go back to using safety...

Bloomberg & crew honor Boston Bomber in roll call

Once again Bloomberg and his cronies illustrate that they are against guns regardless of fact or reason.  This time, they compounded their own disdain for the 2nd Amendment with disdain for common sense and decency. At a Mayors Against “Illegal” Guns rally Tuesday in Concord, New Hampshire (humorous that these anti freedom thugs would go to the “Live Free or Die” state to begin with) the group thought it would be a moving tribute to read off the names of those who have been “killed with guns” since the December 14th shooting at gun free zone school in Newtown, CT. Included in these honored dead, MAIG saw fit to include Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name.  Yep.  The Boston Marathon Bomber who killed 3 people and injured another 264 and was shot dead by Police is an example that Mayor Bloomberg and his cabal hold up as a victim of gun violence....

New York charges homeowner when he stops vandals

Village of Clyde homeowner Jesse Daniels has found himself victim of two crimes.  The first is having his father-in-law’s house (located next door to his own) broken into and  vandalized with damages in excess of $50,000.  The second is that after capturing the four culprits and holding them in a closet until police arrived, Daniels is being charged with a crime. As for the first, the hoodlums ransacked Daniels father-in-laws house with graffiti and wholesale destruction.  Below is a photo of just one room that they worked over. While the vandalism is bad the truly abhorrent crime is that the  Wayne County DA charged Daniels with 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Seriously?!?! Now, the hoodlums ages ranged from 8 to 10 but in the middle of the night, doing $50,000 of damage and armed with hammers, these kids are lucky they weren’t shot. Though this...

Oregon “Glock Block” adds new dimension to Neighborhood watch

With the average police response time to the outlying areas of Portland Oregon being between 6.5 to 7 minutes, a neighborhood in bordering Clackamas County has decided that 7 minutes is just too long to wait. After a growing amount of crime overflow from bordering Portland entered Milwaukie, OR the residents decided that a simple neighborhood watch wasn’t enough, that the County Sheriff miles away wasn’t enough, so they have done what are founders intended.  They have taken up arms to defend themselves. Affectionately known as “Glock Block”, a group of neighbors have acquired their CCW’s and trained with sidearms in order to defend their neighborhood.  They have gone out and hung fliers to alert criminals that they best move along and find easier targets.   Of course…if other neighborhoods follow this example the criminals will have little choice but to move to another state all together that abhors...

Obama to arm Syrian Rebels while moves to disarm American Citizens

In case you haven’t heard, Syria is an a bit of an open revolt against its government.  So as to not get into the politics of the Middle East too greatly, regime change might be a good thing, but one can never tell in the terrorist laced hotbed that is the Middle East. For instance, the Syrian “rebels” have a concentration of Al Qaeda infiltration within their collective ranks.  Is it a high concentration?  Hard to say, but Al Qaeda operatives have been identified as being among the rebels.  One section of rebels have even openly pledged loyalty to Al Qaeda. With the presence of Al Qaeda among the rebels growing , President Obama has moved to begin arming the Syrian “rebels” with all kinds of guns and ammunition. Let me repeat that in order to stress the important point…Obama is knowingly and willingly giving military grade weapons to...

Happy Father’s Day

Let us take the day to honor, thank and overall appreciate all the sacrifices that our fathers and their fathers before them made in order for us to grow up happy and free. It’s not always easy to raise a child and father’s rarely get the propaganda spin that mothers do. So, think fondly on this day of all the lessons your father has taught you, the discipline he instilled in you, the knowledge he imparted on you and all the punishments he whipped into you in order to make it all stick when you forgot :o) Being a father isn’t about being a best friend.  It’s about being a provider, a teacher, a disciplinarian, a mentor, a judge, a pair of strong arms to hold you up when you fall, and yes…a friend.  But first and foremost, your father. Thank him for being that today.   And if...

And then there were 5, Arkansas enacts Constitutional Carry

Next month the free citizens of the state of Arkansas join with those of Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming in exercising their constitutional rights without having to beg for the governments blessing. Act 746 of the 2013 General Assembly was signed into law by Governor Mike Beebe on April 4th, 2013 establishing that the 2nd Amendment is a right that cannot and should not be administered or limited to free law abiding people by a bureaucracy or political whimsy. The naysayers may initially have a conniption fit and rail about blood in the streets and so on, but as any reasonable person can understand, Act 746 shifts the guilt to actually criminals while allowing the law abiding to exercise their right without interference. To wit: A person commits the offense of carrying a weapon if he or she possesses a handgun, knife, or club on or about his or her...

Maine illustrates the problem of regaining rights

Both Houses of the Maine legislature have rejected a bill that would have done away with the concealed carry permit, making Maine the fifth Constitutional Carry State in the nation.  Arizona, Wyoming, Alaska and Vermont all allow carrying of firearms without the need for government approval to exercise the Constitutional right. While Maine is in New England it tends to follow that northern New England libertarian streak that its neighbors of Vermont and New Hampshire have.  The idea that they would follow Vermont’s lead and do away with the CCW scam that plagues so many states is not unheard of. Unfortunately, in the House it failed by a mere vote, in the Senate it was 7 on nigh party lines. Listening to the dissenters speak of the matter illustrates the issue of trying to regain rights.  The mentality of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” comes into play.  The...
