Drug Freedom Clearing The Road For Gun Freedom?

It’s funny how things work out. A lot of puns and humor were tossed at the two Super Bowl teams this year as both come from states that have legalized marijuana. As a gun rights advocate I am rather curious as to how the whole drug thing will shake out because the federal government is pretty clear that drugs that they deem illegal cannot be allowed by states.  The states of Washington and Colorado disagree. If the Federal Government blinks it will be the blink heard round the world because it will set a precedent in where a state can willfully and overtly ignore Federal Laws in order to conduct state business as an autonomous sovereignty. As a Libertarian I love this.  Please do not take that as me condoning or endorsing the use of heretofore illicit drugs, but if a state wants to pass a law saying that...

Treat a lady like a whore, you shouldn’t be surprised when she slaps you

Gun makers are finally saying enough is enough.  For years, gun companies have remained in the gun control heavy states that they were founded in, or they continued to deal with states that chip away at the freedom of the 2nd Amendment . As the title goes, a number of gun makers have said enough is enough and have either moved their operations or have basically boycotted selling their wares to certain states. Of course, this hurts gun owners and workers most, but maybe if the people get upset enough and see that jobs are hightailing out of their state they MIGHT take an interest in who is on the ballot in November. On the 22nd of January, Smith and Wesson joined Ruger in declaring that they will no longer sell their weapons to California based directly on the folly of gun controllers who think that microstamping is in...

Chicago politics loses another round to the Constitution

The “Chicago Way” took another hit on the chin as a federal judge has ruled that Chicago’s end around to try and infringe upon its citizens right to keep and bear arms was unconstitutional. Gun Control advocates, never letting a right go unmolested had attempted to ban sales of gun within the city.  The city, mind you, that was the murder capital of the country two years running even though it had a complete ban on private citizens carrying firearms.  A city that in the month of August, with it’s complete ban on carrying a firearm had 52 firearm murders and 224 people being shot.  The city felt the need to further deny the rights of its citizens to defend themselves when the CCW issuance finally went into effect in 2014. By this they hoped to drive sales of legal guns as far outside of Cook County as possible...

In America, freedom of speech is encouraged…so long as you agree with the liberal left

One of the most hypocritical aspects in America is the notion that liberals are some bastions for freedom, acceptance and tolerance. That’s horse manure. Liberals propagate this false notion that everyone should have a voice and everyone should be accepted for their views.  But in truth, liberals believe that everyone should have a voice and everyone should be accepted for their views so long as they speak in agreement and share the same views as liberals. The most recent example making headlines is that of Phil Robertson who dared speak his mind with regards to homosexuality. Tamara Jackson did a great story on the fallout that can be read here: A&E: Phil Robertson on hiatus after frank comments on homosexuality! Phil Robertson gave an interview in which he stated that he doesn’t believe that homosexuality is right and that he does not embrace it.  Yet he also said that he...

Gun Controllers Bamboozle BOTH Major Parties on “Invisible Guns”

In a tragic sign of bi-partisanship, Congress is on the verge of passing a 10-year extension to the Undetectable Firearms Act that bans all plastic guns that cannot be detected by a metal detector. The gun controllers argue about the criminals getting their hands on weapons that cannot  be detected and sneaking them into places that they could do damage with. The only problem with this “logic” is that with the advent of 3-D printers and the technology improving in that regard, criminals will just ignore this law too. Do I want an all plastic gun that is undetectable?  To be honest, until I started writing this article I would say no, and that I was only arguing on principle that to infringe upon the manufacturing and owning of plastic undetectable weapons was a violation of the 2nd Amendment. But the more I think about it, with instances of...

Technology has arrived that completely undercuts the pretense of Gun Control

Gun Control advocates have long contended that gun control’s main objective is to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Of course, we know that as a lie because the notion that a criminal will follow gun control laws is woefully naive at best.  The only people who follow gun control laws are the law abiding and it is they who suffer their rights being infringed. But the technology has finally arrived that blasts the Gun Controllers cover story to pieces. You may have heard of 3D printed guns.  Originally they were guns made of plastic created on a 3D printer where all you need is a program and some plastic.  Known  as the Liberator this plastic gun was as ugly as it was ineffective. While it would shoot, its longevity was closer to a one-off than a reliable long lasting firearm.  Yet even with the liberator, the...

A re-look at gun control on Occam’s razor edge

Back in January I wrote an article about the false logic of gun control and how the argument between gun control and gun rights fairs when placed within the constructs of Occam’s Razor; the logic principle that the argument that makes the fewest assumptions is the right one. In the current debate concerning guns in America, I am always astounded by the twisting of facts, logic and reason that the gun control zealots put forth in order to defend their case.  By all sense and logic, gun control cannot be viewed as anything other than a means to oppress a free people and to disarm the law abiding. When looking at the pro-rights argument against the pro-control argument one needs to cut through the hyperbole and sensationalism with Occam’s razor. Plainly put, Occam’s razor is the process in which, when you have two competing theories, the one that makes...

Lies My Government Tells Me

With the recent signing of the UN Arms Treaty and its potential to undermine American sovereignty in regards to the 2nd Amendment, Sec. of State John Kerry and the Obama Administration has assured the public that they are not going after guns.  History, both recent and spanned, tell us that taking the government’s word in regards to “what will and will not happen” is tenuous at best. Here is a list of just some of the lies our government tells us. Social Security.  Putting aside promises that may have been made by FDR that the number would not be used for identification or that the program would be voluntary (yeah right) there are concrete promises that have been quickly tossed out.  Did you know that when the government was trying to cram the social security ponzi scheme down the American throats they made a lot of promises and even...

Gun Control working to facilitate hate crimes in New York City

As hate crime mob beatings in New York City continue to escalate in ferocity as well as in frequency, gun control appears to be working as it was intended.  In that, the people most prone to be attacked aren’t having to sink to the level of shooting their attackers and can take the moral highroad of being beaten, sometimes to death. Of course I am being facetious with the previous sentence in response to this online meme the Brady Campaign came out with a while back But even though the Brady Campaign tries to backpedal from the above ad that was featured on their facebook page, and other gun control groups distance themselves from the sentiment the fact is that gun control’s end result is exploiting the weak and the few to the whims of the strong and the many. Just like a 100lb woman will find it difficult...

How the Kenyan Mall Massacre Can Easily Happen in the US…Thanks Gun Control

Last week Islamic Terrorists stormed the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya killing at least 68 people.  Four days later, the armed men have continued to hold off police attempts to retake the mall. These terrorists executed anyone who wasn’t a muslim or couldn’t answer questions about Islam such as what Muhammed’s mother’s name was or couldn’t recite passages from the Koran. The first thing I could think of is how easily that could happen here.  The second was how did it happened in Kenya in the first place? The answer is the fallacy of gun control. A quick run down of gun control measures in Kenya: The Washington DC National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence categorizes the regulation of guns in Kenya as restrictive. The right to private gun ownership is not guaranteed by law Civilians are not allowed to possess semi-automatic self-loading military assault rifles...

9/11/13 : Twelve years of letting the terrorists win

I’m going to sidestep the normal gun heavy discussion I tend to have and focus on my Libertarian roots. I cannot help but look at the past twelve years and see all that we lost.  Starting with the 2700+ killed in New York, the 343 fire fighters who died in the line of duty, those in the pentagon and those in the plane that struck it. Then I think of Flight 93 and the heroes on board.  The first and the last victory the people of this country had against the war on terror. Because everything afterward has been a continued and steady victory for terrorism. See, when terrorists commit to something, dying is pretty much a moot point.  Therefore killing them doesn’t actually change the scoreboard.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for killing terrorists, but that is just a show to cover the continuing defeats that we...

Bulletproof objects are only a half-measure at best

If someone was coming at you with a sword would it be better for you to have a sword or a shield? The answer is the sword.  Why?  Because the sword can be used for both offense and defense to a greater degree than a shield can be. The same goes with the choice between a sword and hiding behind something.  While hiding may avoid the man with the sword it will ultimately be useless if you are found. Of course, in this modern era the need to defend yourself from sword wielding ninjas and brigands is dramatically less than in times gone by, yet the rationale behind the need for an offensive weapon for defensive actions is still as true today as it was in the way back when. Though in some places, like the University of Maryland, the thought is that giving the faculty bulletproof white boards...

But…I thought you CONTROLLED the guns in NYC, Mayor Bloomberg

Mayor Bloomberg does say he’s after ILLEGAL guns right? Hmmm…interesting, because all the laws on the books that strip New Yorkers of their god given right to keep and bear arms didn’t stop 14 year old Shaaliver Douse from walking up to a group at 3am and open fire. From surveillance videos of Sunday evening, Douse, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, fires at a group of men standing outside a bodega and then chases after one of them. Douse fired four shots in all. Douse’s shooting spree ended rather abruptly when Police showed up  and shot him in the face. Fortunately, no innocent bystanders were hurt in gunfire. Now, Bloomberg will probably blame some other state for lax gun laws, but that doesn’t really hold water here.  No state in the union allows for a 14 year old boy to buy a handgun legally.  Plus, how is this 14...

Attempted Mass Murder Proves It’s Time For California To Ban “Assault” Vehicles

In another example of California’s wanton disregard for the safety of its citizens, the permissible culture of Sacramento allows anyone to buy an “assault” vehicle without passing a background check. Oh sure, if they buy this killing machine on four wheels from a Licensed dealer then they may have to undergo a little credit check and the dealer will keep a record of the transaction…but what about the USED CAR LOOPHOLE!?!?!?! The state of California, due to the Lobbying Power of the Big Three auto companies has turned a blind eye to this danger and it has proven costly. On Saturday, August 3rd in Los Angeles, attempted serial killer Nathan Louis Campbell parked his “assault” vehicle outside a hotel and picked out his targets on the Venice Beach boardwalk. On the surveillance video, Campbell got into a large black car, steered around a vehicle barrier and accelerated mercilessly through the...

The fallacy of Bloomberg passing the blame of NYC gun violence to other states

Bloomberg’s gun control measures in New York City have led to the murder of his disarmed citizenry.  Instead of taking a look at how is own policies have failed Bloomberg lashes out at other states and blames their adherence to the Constitution. Bloomberg pulls the favorite move of gun control advocates; namely, he points to the abject failure of gun control as the reason for MORE gun control.  He also uses this to justify why the Mayor of New York is meddling in the elections of states around the country. Bloomberg announced that he planned to aid two Colorado state senators who face an  recall vote for supporting gun control. “Yes, I’m going to give some money, because I think they’ve done what’s right for the people of Colorado,” But let us get back to the fallacies of his argument.  The first one, as I stated, is the idea that since...
