Non-Gun Real World Example Of “Better To Have and Not Need Than Need and Not Have”

Gun control zealots are all about bemoaning the point that the chances of a person needing a gun are remote.  It may suprise many of my readers but I agree with them.  Fortunately the vast majority of gun owners will never have to use their firearm to protect themselves. But so too will a vast majority of homeowners not have their house burn down yet no one is suggesting that fire insurance is somehow only purchased by pyromaniacs. Do seat belts make people worse and more reckless of drivers? I can go on and on with this track of logic, logic of course being the bane of gun control.  And I could highlight gun owners who were raped or robbed or murdered because they were in a “gun free” zone (or non gun owners who never had a chance), then show comparative footage of gun owners who stopped such...

The Correlation of Mentalities Between Planet Fitness and Gun Haters

In case you haven’t heard, mainly because you work out at a gym that doesn’t encourage laziness, sloth and in general flabby weakness, Planet Fitness has banned squat racks from their establishments. You can read more on that here: Gym Removes Squat Racks for Being ‘Intimidating’ to Squishy Clients Now, don’t get me wrong, fat or weak people shouldn’t be mocked or humiliated at a gym when they are trying to better themselves but the idea that in order to do so you must undercut other people who wish to improve themselves is ridiculous. I think treadmills are stupid.  Many people get on the hamster wheel and take a leisurely stroll and think they are actually working out.  Do I think treadmills should be banned from gyms?  No, if someone wants to waste their time with it, it’s no skin off my nose.       But if I want...

Another innocent man being railroaded by gun control

I guess “innocent” is technically not true but what was not a crime a week ago is one now, as Tyrone Watson found out. The 30 year old Bridgeport man is the first person to be charged in Connecticutt for having a “high capacity magazine”. Or, rather, for having the magazine that came with his handgun known by most rational people as a normal magazine.  But this is what happens when gun controllers get to arbitrarily dictate what is “high capacity” and define what is “normal”. Few pistols now a day hold less than 11 rounds, the noticeable exception being the 1911 and its clones.  But Glocks for instance, favored by law enforcement departments around the country hold 15 rounds standard.  Springfield Armories popular XD line hold 13 rounds for the .45 (also standard) and even more for the smaller caliber rounds.  The Baretta 9mm holds 15 rounds as...

A SAFE Act? Cuomo official uses handgun as laser pointer during presentation

Perhaps while Andrew Cuomo was forcing the unconstitutional SAFE Act down the throats of New Yorkers he should have included the confiscation of guns by his own administration. It has come out that on October 24th of last year, Jerome Hauer, Cuomo’s Dir. of Homeland Security, took out his Glock 9mm handgun (you know, the one WITHOUT a safety) and used the laser pointer on it to give a presentation to a Swedish delegation. As you can imagine the Swede’s became a little discomforted as Hauer waved his handgun around, flagging them all as he spoke and gesticulated. Apparently being the Dir. of NY’s Homeland Security doesn’t mean you know the first thing about gun safety, of which one of the tenets is never point your weapon at something you aren’t willing to destroy. And this isn’t an overreaction of the foreign delegation as I too would not be...

John Shuster…bane of the US Winter Olympic Team

I saw the enemy of American excellence on television last night…John Shuster. I had hoped that he would fall away in infamy after the debacle of Vancouver 2010. But no.  John Shuster has either come back for redemption or the complete implosion of another US Olympic Curling team heading to Sochi. Do you not know who John Shuster is?  He is the skipper for the US Men’s Olympic Curling team and the shame of America. Long story short, John Shuster choked so badly in Vancouver, especially on February 18th, that he single handedly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. And it is thanks to John Shuster that I learned that Wikipedia has a history feature that you can see the old edits of pages.  The only thing that helped me recover from the national embarrassment of John Shusters display was the fact that I was not alone and...

Chicago politics loses another round to the Constitution

The “Chicago Way” took another hit on the chin as a federal judge has ruled that Chicago’s end around to try and infringe upon its citizens right to keep and bear arms was unconstitutional. Gun Control advocates, never letting a right go unmolested had attempted to ban sales of gun within the city.  The city, mind you, that was the murder capital of the country two years running even though it had a complete ban on private citizens carrying firearms.  A city that in the month of August, with it’s complete ban on carrying a firearm had 52 firearm murders and 224 people being shot.  The city felt the need to further deny the rights of its citizens to defend themselves when the CCW issuance finally went into effect in 2014. By this they hoped to drive sales of legal guns as far outside of Cook County as possible...

Why don’t the heroes who stop mass murderers get better press?

If I say Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and Aurora you will most likely think of the mass shootings that took place there. I also think about all those places being gun free zones and how well that worked out. But what would come to mind  if I said: Pearl High, Parker Middle School Dance, Golden Market and  Clackamas Town Center? If you are like most Americans you probably don’t know anything about these places and that is a shame because they are all places where a law abiding gun owner STOPPED a mass murderer before they could ratchet up the body count.  Does the media trumpet these citizen heroes and repeat their names ad nauseam so they become household words? No.  Their names are often unreported save for the local press of their town because apparently stopping a mass murderer with the ability to kill hundreds isn’t as...

What if your freedom of speech was limited to one topic?

That is the equivalent of what Federal District Court Judge William M. Skretny ruled in regards to New York States ridiculously named SAFE Act. In his opinion Judge Skretny ruled that the provision of a 7 bullet maximum for magazines was unconstitutional.  Outside of any 1911 owners that pretty much would have outlawed all semi automatic pistols. Now, sure this is a victory of the 2nd Amendment…a victory borne through resounding defeats. Skretny also ruled that everything else in the SAFE Act is constitutional. These provisions include: -The “Assault Weapons Ban”.  Not only limited to rifles but any firearm that has ONE miiltary feature, be it a telescoping or folding stock or a pistol grip on a long gun.  How exactly these features make a weapon any more dangerous is beyond me but the bed wetting gun controllers who know nothing about firearms apparently equate black guns to violence and...

When seconds count police are only HOURS away

Do you remember playing telephone as a child?  A group of you would whisper a message to each other along a line and see if it stayed intact and coherent from the first person to the last.  Well, unfortunately in real life the results aren’t as hilarious if you are waiting for the police to help you. In Dallas, a man who defended his store while being robbed by 4 armed gunmen had to wait 74 minutes for the police to arrive because the 911 operator couldn’t understand what he was saying.  Fortunately for the store manager he had his .38 revolver and was able to drive the attackers off and shooting one. Yet it took so long for the police to arrive the manager decided to go home and wait.  When the police finally showed up they called him to come back and give his report.  I shudder...

Let’s Kickoff 2014 With A Little Humor

Let’s face it, 2013 was a little rough for America and her people.  Between the loss of privacy, Obamacare and dangerous gun control measures like the SAFE Act, lady liberty took a few shots to the chin.  With that in mind I figure the first article of the new year will have a few chuckles in it to lighten the mood and start the year on a spry step. What is the best substance to oil a firearm with? | | | | | | | | | | ———————————————————————————————– In Washington , D.C. an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near. “Yes, Father?” said the nurse. “I would really like to see President Obama and Senator Reid before I die,”...
