My “Violence Interrupter” is the gun on my hip

Leave it to New York City to once again have its head so far up its fourth point of contact that any crappy idea smells like roses to them. Mayor DeBlasio, taking over right where Bloomberg left off with crackpot ideas is spending nearly $13 million of taxpayer money on a “Gun Crisis Management System.” According to our friends at Liberty Unyielding: A key facet of the Mayor’s plan, backed by the City Council, are so-called “violence interrupters.” These interrupters will be seeded in high-crime police precincts to disrupt street crime before it reaches the point of a gun muzzle. This comes as the administration’s response to a 12 percent uptick in shootings this year in the City that Never Sleeps. The plan is based on the Cure Violence model, which is designed to treat gun violence as a health care issue. The cure proposed is to identify those...

Common Sense Gun Laws Being Attacked By Gun Controllers

In Georgia, gun controllers are once again proving that common sense gun laws to them only include ones that seek to stamp out the 2nd Amendment completely. The gun haters are currently foaming at the mouth at HB-60 that is currently awaiting Governor Deal’s signature to be enacted into law. HB-60 basically tosses in a whole helping of common sense but the gun control zealots are once again doing their prognostication of blood running in the streets. Here are the highlights of HB-60: It allows CHOICE of private business owners on who they allow into their establishments Removes bars from the off limits list and treats them like every other piece of private property in GA in that the property owner has the right to eject a person from their property. Allows church carry if the church agrees to allow guns in churches and establishes up to a $100...

Gun Control Fanatic Senator Leland Yee Finally Arrested On Corruption Charges

I’ve been saying that Leland Yee was a criminal for years…federal authorities finally paid attention. Yee was arrested by the FBI Wednesday morning for public corruption.  While this isn’t terribly surprising given Lee’s track record of ignoring what was morally and ethically right, what IS slightly surprising is that among the charges being leveled against Yee is GUN TRAFFICKING.  How poetically ironic. Yee doesn’t seem as happy in the back of a FBI Agent’s car as he was when he was persecuting law abiding gun owners in California. This isn’t even your typical white collar politician crime which consists of kickbacks and quid quo pro arrangements.  Yee is being charged with conspiring to traffic in firearms and who is conspiring with?  Yee is now being linked to Chinese Mafioso Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, former soldier in San Francisco’s Hop Sing Tong gang. First convicted in 1978 for robbery in...

Gun Owner Bigotry Being Fought Against In The Sunshine State

The desire to be free, to enjoy liberty, to sever the yolk of tyranny…these are not choices.  These are inherent in me from my birth.  And the ONLY way that I can live my life following the aforementioned endowments I was bestowed with by both the law of nature and my Creator is to be properly armed against those that would threaten my liberty. In other words, in regards to being a gun owner…I was born this way. And in AMERICA, we are SUPPOSED to protect people from discrimination.  We protect groups based on the color of their skin.  I contend that a person has as much choice being born a certain color as I do in my innate desire to be armed from tyranny. Unfortunately most of the country still lags behind in this realization, hence we have Jim Crow like laws that add “poll” taxes to owning...

Mass Murderers have one less place to target – The State of Idaho

Or at least the State Colleges and Universities of the Gem State.  Idaho Governor CL “Butch” Otter has signed SB1254 into law that makes it legal for licensed gun owners to carry on the grounds of public universities with the exception of Dorms, Residence Halls and Entertainment venues. Outside of that last little blip, this is definitely a step in the right direction. No more will law abiding gun owners have to huddle behind a desk while some psychopath is executing his or her fellow students in front of their eyes while they helplessly wait their turn. No more will the right to defend yourself be taken from you just because you want to further your education. No more will this fool notion of “Gun Free Zones” somehow making people safer persist on the public campus’ of Idaho. This is a very good thing.  Finally, people are waking up...

Can the Man from Westchester SAVE the 2nd Amendment in New York?

No sooner did Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino declare his candidacy for Governor of New York did my inbox start getting bombarded with emails from upstaters questioning whether a politician from a county so close to NYC can be pro gun. The term RINO was bandied about as well as one email from former Republican Candidate for Governor, Carl Paladino, stated that Astorino was just a puppet of New York Republican State Committee Chair, Ed Cox. The Astorino candidacy is only being promoted by Cox to perpetuate the Albany establishment and the abuse of government by the arrogant and vain tyrant, Andrew Cuomo, who wants to maintain the status quo.  The rank and file want change and Cox appears to be setting Astorino up as a sacrificial run to keep all his RINO lobbyist buddies like D’Amato fat and happy, feeding at the public trough. While I do believe...

Another case where Gun Registration leads to Gun Confiscation

As a child, I remember watching the movie Red Dawn starring Patrick Swayze and C. Thomas Howell. The thing about that movie that really hit a chord with me was a scene when the Soviets had just landed and the commander told one of his lieutenants to go to the gun shops for they would have a list of all the guns owned by the people, thus making it easier for the Soviets to round them up. Now, while a work of fiction, the concept is sound.  If you make a list of everyone who has a gun, it’s easier for an oppressive authority to confiscate them when they don’t want you to have them. Unfortunately in America, this is not limited to the realm of fiction. I have spoken about he jackbooted thuggery of New Orleans Police when they went out and forcibly confiscated guns from citizens in...

Does Upstate New York have the answer to breaking free of Gun Control?

With the passage of the freedom crushing SAFE Act, some have speculated that the politicians in Albany, made up heavily from downstate gun grabbers, have taken a bridge too far. It was so sloppily thrown together and included banning police officers from using their firearms that it had to be altered in order to create two classes of citizens.  Those who work for the states who still get to exercise the rights enumerated in the Constitution and the rest of the people, who are more like inconveniences to the body politic. That’s just the way things go in the EMPIRE state. Now other states who have faced this type of injustice, such as California, have spouted off about breaking up the state.  Even Colorado and Maryland have been getting in on the state splitting action.  But let’s set them aside for now because their split would change little and...

Clock runs out for Wyoming Legislature to protect schools

Wyoming, the great square state of the Midwest has run out of time to do something so forward thinking and revolutionary simple that it would shame North East and California Politicians if said politicians had any credibility to begin with. Wyoming lawmakers in both houses had voted to let school staff carry guns.  Unlike the gun controllers who seek to stamp out freedom whenever they can and as a result help criminals and madmen go on rampages unfettered by the law abiding, Wyoming had clearly deciphered the riddle that has plagued gun controllers for so long.  GUN FREE ZONES DON’T WORK!  On February 13th, the Wyoming Legislature voted 54-6 in forwarding a bill that will allow teachers and other school workers who possess a CCW to bring their sidearm onto campus.  On the 19th the Senate committee forwarded a similar piece of legislation to the Senate for debate.  Unfortunately,...

Science fiction passes for “sensible” gun control measures

It was bad enough with all this micro-stamping nonsense but now we have to enter the realm of Judge Dredd? To refresh your memory micro-stamping was the flawed technology that was supposed to imprint a micro-print on every shell casing of every round of ammunition fired.  I say flawed because legislation was passed before the technology was ever possible let alone feasible. Think about it, all a person would have to do to get around the micro-print at the end of the firing pin is to grind it off.  A process that naturally occurs after the first few dozen shots anyways.  Or, even if THAT weren’t the case criminals (if they couldn’t get stolen guns) would simply start using revolvers and police their own brass. The goal of micro-stamping legislation was not to actually use it to solve crimes but rather to bankrupt gun manufacturers by forcing them to...

Introducing the New York Legal AR-15 rifle and the man bringing it to the Empire State

Nestled in the mountains of the southern Adirondacks is a gun shop that is fighting tyranny by giving back the 2nd Amendment to it’s patrons. With the passage of the SAFE Act and the measures within that are a cross between draconian and byzantine, sporting rifles such as the AR-15 have been prohibited simply because they look scary though they have no functional difference between any other popular hunting rifle. But, instead of just sitting back and accepting a broad sweeping infringement upon the rights of New Yorkers, Rich Sehlmeyer, owner of The Gun Shop at MacGregors, has been waging his own battle against the SAFE Act by helping oppressed New Yorkers keep possession of the most popular rifle in the country. A little bit about Rich and his gun shop first.  A small family business that started a decade ago with just 20 rifles and 5 handguns, the place...

The heartland moves to expand gun rights

The state houses of Missouri and Kansas have both moved legislation along that will expand the rights of its citizens. In the Missouri senate, legislation was passed on Tuesday that would nullify federal gun laws that are incongruent with Missourian’s 2nd Amendment rights.  Any agent of the federal government who attempt to infringe upon the rights of a Missourian would face jail time of up to a year as well as a $1000 fine. Such measures are seemingly more and more appropriate as Obama is talking more and more about acting outside the scope of his power and enacting liberty infringing executive orders to try and pass his draconian ideas of gun control on an unwilling people. Missouri Sen. Brian Nieves said of the legislation: “This is primarily purposed to protect liberties of Missourians.” If the federal government is going to ignore the bill of rights, it must fall...

The absurdity of the assault weapons definition

Bells and whistles. That is what makes a rifle an ASSUALT rifle and it is ridiculous. If we  apply the same notion of demonizing to other items that we do to rifles  the absurdity becomes clear. You want a car with cup holders?  It’s an ASSAULT car. Your kid wants a tricycle with a horn, it’s an ASSUALT trike. If your spouse wants a vacuum cleaner with an extendable wand…ASSAULT vacuum. By and large these things do not change the nature or the function of the item, they simply are some bells and whistles that the owner can enjoy.  But cup holders do not make a car any more dangerous nor does a pistol grip or collapsible stock make a rifle so. But to illustrate the absurdity of attacks on so called “assault” weapons and the ignorance that gun controllers bring to the table in doing so, take a...

Drug Freedom Clearing The Road For Gun Freedom?

It’s funny how things work out. A lot of puns and humor were tossed at the two Super Bowl teams this year as both come from states that have legalized marijuana. As a gun rights advocate I am rather curious as to how the whole drug thing will shake out because the federal government is pretty clear that drugs that they deem illegal cannot be allowed by states.  The states of Washington and Colorado disagree. If the Federal Government blinks it will be the blink heard round the world because it will set a precedent in where a state can willfully and overtly ignore Federal Laws in order to conduct state business as an autonomous sovereignty. As a Libertarian I love this.  Please do not take that as me condoning or endorsing the use of heretofore illicit drugs, but if a state wants to pass a law saying that...

Peaceful Rebellion Catching Fire In Connecticut

Gun control zealots, empowered from feeding off the blood of young children, seized their moment to punish the law abiding citizens of Connecticut last year and passed pointless gun control legislation that did nothing to prevent gun violence. Rather, these ghouls who exploit tragedy and the death of young children for their own ends, hoisted upon the innocent, draconian measures that sought to strip the rights from citizens in order to make them subjects and more easier to control. I must admit, I had underestimated the people of the Constitution State, because rather than just bending over and taking it they have risen up in quiet rebellion against this tyranny and have simply said: “No.” The legislation of citizen control that was passed last year in Hartford required that citizens who owned sporting rifles or any magazine that held more than 10 rounds (aka MOST magazines), must have those...

Another bit of oppression falls in Colorado. Open Carry Ban in Castle Rock Repealed

Perhaps Colorado, as a whole, has seen the error of its ways. I mean, Colorado…come on…remember your roots and forget all about the gun hating Californian transplants you have had to suffer over the years. Finally, and fortunately, I think Colorado is remembering who it is. On top of the recalls and resignations, individual towns are taking back their rights and Castle Rock was not to be denied a moment longer. The State of Colorado recognizes the right to open carry firearms.  Unfortunately, it has not pass legislation that would pre-empt any jurisdiction from usurping the rights of its citizens so there are pockets of tyranny in Colorado, most notably in Denver. But that doesn’t mean that tyranny must remain as the town of Castle Rock, just a few miles south of the mile high city, has finally cast off the shackles of infringement and repealed the ban. Though...

Even when in my favor I reject the idea of “special” citizens – Gun Rights belong to all free Americans

As you have read in my past articles on NY’s SAFE Act, not only do I have a problem with nonsensical rights denying gun control, but I have as big if not bigger problem with the EXCEPTIONS to the laws that are given to politicians, the rich, the powerful and the police. Since I am not a raging hypocrite like my opponents I therefore will not support or encourage legislation that would make one class of people “more worthy” of a right than another. In Iowa, a bill has been proposed that will allow active duty military personnel to buy handguns without going through the arduous and Constitutionally unnecessary process of acquiring a permit. An Iowa house subcommittee passed the bill unanimously and now it heads to the House’s Veterans Affairs Committee. Currently in Iowa, atop the standard federal background check you need to meet “certain requirements” and PAY...

Another Activist Judge, Another Double Standard Stickin It To The 2nd Amendment

Judges are SUPPOSED to be like umpires or referees. I mean that, though you may not agree with them they are consistent.  In being such they do not favor some rights more than others. Yet once again, an activist judge has decided to toss out the will of the people on logic that would be unheard of if used with regard to the 2nd Amendment. Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard L. McGinley, a Democrat,  has tossed out Pennsylvania’s Voter ID law because: “the law would unreasonably burden the fundamental right to vote, and the state had been unable to convincingly explain why it was necessary.” Funny, examples of voter fraud aren’t convincing but somehow Andrew Cuomo, Barack obama and other rabid gun controllers speaking in hyperbole is convincing? There is NO evidence that gun control has stopped or reduced gun crime.  In FACT, over the past 100 years, whenever major...
