The do as I say not as I do government in action

With all the moral authority of an adulterer opining on why other people should respect their wedding vows, IRS Chief Dan Werfel has stated that he doesn’t want Obamacare but has no problem forcing the American public to get it. As it stands now, Government employees (including Congress and the President)  are exempted from Obamacare.  So while John Q Public has to face the onerous task of being forced to change their healthcare choices, the employees of the government simply say, “eh…no thanks.” This got me thinking of “Two America’s”.  Though it is often overlooked by the media there is definitely two Americs’s when it comes to the laws that the average citizen has to follow and those that those in government can ignore. Recently in New York, with the ridiculously named SAFE Act, Gov. Cuomo signed a bill that exempts not only law enforcement from owning “assault” rifles...

The fallacy of Bloomberg passing the blame of NYC gun violence to other states

Bloomberg’s gun control measures in New York City have led to the murder of his disarmed citizenry.  Instead of taking a look at how is own policies have failed Bloomberg lashes out at other states and blames their adherence to the Constitution. Bloomberg pulls the favorite move of gun control advocates; namely, he points to the abject failure of gun control as the reason for MORE gun control.  He also uses this to justify why the Mayor of New York is meddling in the elections of states around the country. Bloomberg announced that he planned to aid two Colorado state senators who face an  recall vote for supporting gun control. “Yes, I’m going to give some money, because I think they’ve done what’s right for the people of Colorado,” But let us get back to the fallacies of his argument.  The first one, as I stated, is the idea that since...

Legality aside, why would Docs need to know if there’s a gun in your house?

The Heritage Foundation did a great write up about the legality of barring doctors from snooping into the non-medical related business of their patients, but I wanted to put the legality of the issue aside for the moment. My real question is, Why?  Why would a doctor need to know whether you have a gun in the house?  And also, why is Obamacare encouraging doctors to ask about gun ownership?  Considering that patient information will be privy to the government in the new Obamacare database, I can understand why the Obama Administration (enemy to the 2nd Amendment) would want that information. I’m still wondering though, what  the rationale that doctors hide behind in order to ask the question in the first place.  I don’t think a doctor of mine ever asked what kind of car I drove or whether I have a Ginzu knife set or a sawzall.  Those...

The danger of Chris Christie’s big fat stupid ideas on the Constitution and 2nd Amendment

It seems nowadays, with the end of one presidential election, we move right into the next presidential cycle.  There is talk that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is a popular choice to be the candidate for the Republican nomination. If that is true, why doesn’t the Republican party save us all the trouble and just nominate whoever the democrats nominate because it’ll pretty much the same. Chris Christie is no friend to the 2nd Amendment.  Yes, I know he is the Governor of New Jersey but he doesn’t even attempt to take a stand for the rights of his citizens. He has not voiced any dissent on the further restrictions to the rights of New Jerseyians to keep and bear arms being rammed through the legislature.  There will be no veto, even if symbolic.  Christie is just not pro rights. Notice how i didn’t say pro gun rights.  No,...

Gun owners need to understand: We’re at war

The 2nd Amendment is under siege by an Executive branch who seeks to make the unconstitutional constitutional, a judiciary branch that doesn’t have the stones to put politics aside and do whats right, a legislative branch that compromises a right away with the death of a thousand paper cuts.  A media that is so prone to anti-gun sensationalism that you would think every Main St. in America was the Mogadishu mile.  Race baiting opportunists who wish to profit from tragedy and thus feeds the notion that guns are inherently evil.  Rich hypocrites who use their fame or fortune to criticise the use of a gun for self protection yet pay a cadre of guards to ensure that THEY’RE safe. This is the war that the 2nd Amendment is having waged upon it.  The enemies are loud and their war cries are shrill.  Since they are all working together they...

I guess having to shoot someone who looks like the President’s pretend son means you face double jeopardy

I wanted the weekend to see where things were going to shake out with the whole Zimmerman not-guilty verdict.  As you may know if you are a regular follower of this blog that I believe that Zimmerman acted within the constraints of the law when he shot an aggressor who was trying to murder him. Whether the events that led to that moment were of the best choosing, I withhold judgment one way or the other.  But, I do not believe Zimmerman threw the first punch and I do believe that he had one two choices when he was pinned to the ground, either get beaten to death or shoot. A jury acquitted Zimmerman of all charges despite the best efforts of a Judge who was completely in the tank for the prosecution as well as pressure from DC in the form of the Department of Justice rallying people...

The Journal News invasion of gun owners privacy: Round 2

The Journal News is once again seeking to acquire gun owners information and addresses in Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties.  This is a rehash of the action they took last year when they published the names and addresses of legal law abiding gun owners in December to try and ostracize  gun owners. Ironic, that the workers at the Journal News did not seem to enjoy the same treatment when their addresses and information was made available online. You can see if a Journal News employee lives in your neighborhood here: Google Interactive Map of Journal News Employees In December, the Journal News employees were so frazzled that THEIR information was made public that they required therapists to come in to try and calm them and the JN paid for that as well as extra security. Last I heard, the Journal News did not pay for the therapy of the...

No-knock warrants in a lawfully armed Nation

Let’s begin with a definition. No-knock warrant: a warrant issued by a judge that allows law enforcement officers to enter a property without immediate prior notification of the residents, such as by knocking or ringing a doorbell The no-knock warrant is a “evolution” of police procedures brought on by the war on drugs.  The rationale is that if you announce yourself before entering a property, evidence (mostly drugs) can be flushed down the toilet or otherwise disposed of.  So instead of ringing the doorbell, they either kick down or blow up your front door and pop in smoke grenades and bum rush your house. While it is logical to understand that the element of surprise stops criminals from disposing of evidence, but what about the THOUSANDS of other times when a warrant is served at the wrong address? Children terrified, dogs shot, homes destroyed etc etc.  I guess innocent until proven guilty...

Obama to arm Syrian Rebels while moves to disarm American Citizens

In case you haven’t heard, Syria is an a bit of an open revolt against its government.  So as to not get into the politics of the Middle East too greatly, regime change might be a good thing, but one can never tell in the terrorist laced hotbed that is the Middle East. For instance, the Syrian “rebels” have a concentration of Al Qaeda infiltration within their collective ranks.  Is it a high concentration?  Hard to say, but Al Qaeda operatives have been identified as being among the rebels.  One section of rebels have even openly pledged loyalty to Al Qaeda. With the presence of Al Qaeda among the rebels growing , President Obama has moved to begin arming the Syrian “rebels” with all kinds of guns and ammunition. Let me repeat that in order to stress the important point…Obama is knowingly and willingly giving military grade weapons to...

In a time of spies, why the 2nd Amendment is more important than ever

Seemingly not too long ago, when a true believer of the 2nd Amendment would be asked what the Amendment was really meant to insure they were scoffed at and ridiculed when they answered that it was a safeguard against tyranny. Many people, gun owners included, would decry that “this is America” and that our government would never become tyrannical.  They would also follow this blind allegiance to the government in order to rationalize gun control measures such as   universal background checks and national registration arguing that the government would never misuse that information or seize firearms. So the idea of needing the 2nd Amendment to fight against a tyrannical government seemed ludicrous to these people because they could not imagine the US government capable of become tyrannical. That was then…this is now. We now live in a country with one of the greatest spy networks in the world...

TSA – The gun control equivalent for travel (and bane of wookies)

Thanks to a wookie getting shook down by TSA thugs over the weekend a revelation dawned on me. The TSA and all their inept theater of the absurd, is a result of what happens when you apply the illogical precepts of gun control to problems. With gun control, it is usually spawned by a tragedy.  That tragedy is twisted into making people believe there is a “new normal.”  This new normal fallacy promotes the idea that “SOMETHING must be done”.  Politicians, fickle and opportunistic by nature, seize upon this false premise and push through measures that will do nothing in regards to actual safety other than make people “FEEL” safe, while not actually making them any safer. But these measures  will do something much more insidious.  They will strip the law abiding of their liberty.  It has been said countless times and I will repeat it now, criminals don’t...

Contempt of Cop one step closer to be legitimate crime in NY

As anyone who has ever seen a TV court drama knows, contempt of court is a charge that a judge can levy if he feels that he, or the court has been disrespected. It can be leveled against a person who is legitimately being disrespectful/disruptive or it simply can be used by a judge to punish someone he doesn’t like or whose tone annoys him. Direct contempt is that which occurs in the presence of the presiding judge (in facie curiae) and may be dealt with summarily: the judge notifies the offending party that he or she has acted in a manner which disrupts the tribunal and prejudices the administration of justice. After giving the person the opportunity to respond, the judge may impose the sanction immediately. Now, I have seen first hand a judge with a quick trigger finger on this for a person in the back of the...
