The fallacy of Bloomberg passing the blame of NYC gun violence to other states

Bloomberg’s gun control measures in New York City have led to the murder of his disarmed citizenry.  Instead of taking a look at how is own policies have failed Bloomberg lashes out at other states and blames their adherence to the Constitution. Bloomberg pulls the favorite move of gun control advocates; namely, he points to the abject failure of gun control as the reason for MORE gun control.  He also uses this to justify why the Mayor of New York is meddling in the elections of states around the country. Bloomberg announced that he planned to aid two Colorado state senators who face an  recall vote for supporting gun control. “Yes, I’m going to give some money, because I think they’ve done what’s right for the people of Colorado,” But let us get back to the fallacies of his argument.  The first one, as I stated, is the idea that since...

Legality aside, why would Docs need to know if there’s a gun in your house?

The Heritage Foundation did a great write up about the legality of barring doctors from snooping into the non-medical related business of their patients, but I wanted to put the legality of the issue aside for the moment. My real question is, Why?  Why would a doctor need to know whether you have a gun in the house?  And also, why is Obamacare encouraging doctors to ask about gun ownership?  Considering that patient information will be privy to the government in the new Obamacare database, I can understand why the Obama Administration (enemy to the 2nd Amendment) would want that information. I’m still wondering though, what  the rationale that doctors hide behind in order to ask the question in the first place.  I don’t think a doctor of mine ever asked what kind of car I drove or whether I have a Ginzu knife set or a sawzall.  Those...

The danger of Chris Christie’s big fat stupid ideas on the Constitution and 2nd Amendment

It seems nowadays, with the end of one presidential election, we move right into the next presidential cycle.  There is talk that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is a popular choice to be the candidate for the Republican nomination. If that is true, why doesn’t the Republican party save us all the trouble and just nominate whoever the democrats nominate because it’ll pretty much the same. Chris Christie is no friend to the 2nd Amendment.  Yes, I know he is the Governor of New Jersey but he doesn’t even attempt to take a stand for the rights of his citizens. He has not voiced any dissent on the further restrictions to the rights of New Jerseyians to keep and bear arms being rammed through the legislature.  There will be no veto, even if symbolic.  Christie is just not pro rights. Notice how i didn’t say pro gun rights.  No,...

PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane proves she gets her marching orders from Herr Bloomberg

What do you get when you elect a rabid anti gun Bloomberg backed stooge?  One need look no further than Pennsylvania to see what such a choice can reap. Kathleen Kane, who didn’t really hide the fact that she was a gun grabbing automaton of Billionaire Bloomberg has gone and proven that she is willing to follow Bloomberg’s directives and goosestep all over the 2nd Amendment. Following her unlawful evisceration of the Pennsylvania’s reciprocity agreement with Florida to close the boogeyman “loophole” that she campaigned on, she has just now eliminated the reciprocity agreement with Idaho. What was Idaho’s transgression that forced AG Kane to act and dissolve the agreement? IDAHO INCREASED THE SCRUTINY OF GETTING A CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT You read that right.  Idaho made it MORE arduous to get a permit to carry concealed.  It is now more difficult to get a CCW in Idaho than it is...

When does your gun collection become an “arsenal”? When the media wants to grab headlines

In the Little Havana district of Miami, Luis Bianchi was running late for work while waiting for his 3 year old daughter’s mother to come and take her.  He made the inadvisable choice to leave Analis in front of the television when her mother told Luis that she was on her way and would be there shortly.  Luis, blocked access to his bedroom with a couch (the reason will become apparent) and locked the front door when he left. Analis was found wandering the halls some time later and a neighbor called police at 6:30pm. When the police came and escorted the little girl back to her home they investigated the apartment, moved the couch and entered the fathers bedroom to find…AN ARSENAL OF AMMUNITION AND ASSAULT RIFLES….oooooo scary. Almost every news outlet and paper included the word arsenal.  Most even went on to say the house had a...

School Shooting? Check. Exploitative gun control? Check. Rampant crime as a result? Welcome to Stockton

With all the exploitation of dead children that Obama, Bloomberg and other gun grabbing controllers were doing after Sandy Hook, in their push to forward their anti-gun agenda, I did some research to see what happens if they win. Tragically, this was not the first time that a elementary school shooting happened.  Nor was it the first time that anti gun politicians exploited the tragedy of dead children to push for the banning of firearms. One need only look back to 1989 in Stockton California at the Cleveland School where Patrick Purdy opened fired and killed 5 school children ages 6-8 and injuring another 29 plus one teacher. The political ghouls descended upon this tragedy as they have for Sandy Hook and such pejorative terms as “assault weapons” became part of the vernacular.  It was with loaded terms and preying off the grief and sadness of the tragedy that...

The rats are scurrying off of Bloomberg’s sinking ship

How do you know when to worry while on a ocean liner? The rats start fleeing the ship first. Amusingly, that is what is befallen the “Mayor who would be King” and his band of seafaring rodents. Mayors are fleeing Bloomberg’s Mayors Against “Illegal” Guns en masse.  50 mayors have recently cut ties with the organization. Now, these aren’t the same mayors who have left long ago because they were bamboozled into believing that his majesty’s organization was actually about ILLEGAL guns.  There is something to be said for realizing you’ve been duped and leaving an organization when the truth of it is revealed. No, the mayors who are leaving now are doing so because the would be King has overreached and now has become a political liability for them.  Or they are leaving to serve jail sentances because they put the Illegal in MAIG. They still believe in...

The false safety blanket of a home security unit

Now, don’t get me wrong, a home security unit like ADT is a great little additional line of protection, especially while you are out of the house. But ADT has taken to selling a false bill of goods with this ad: http://ispot.tv/a/7LzI (sorry it doesn’t embed) But in the first 5 seconds the scene shows a woman and her daughter walking into their house while the burglar is ransacking the place.  Her voiceover tells the audience that the reason they got ADT is because she walked into a burglary once. While that is all well and good, in the acted scene, the burglar looks at this woman and simply turns and saunters off.  Maybe that really happens in real life, or maybe this guy turns to her and her daughter and silences them, or does something much much worse.  One would think that after walking in on a burglary that...

Petition for Obama’s stance on civil rights violations of gun owner

I had forgotten about a little project that President Obama whipped up earlier in his first term.  The administration, put online, a way to petition the White House directly. With 100,000 online signatures, they supposedly will give you an official response on where the White House stands on an issue. Well, I figured why not put something together than would force an answer that the White House couldn’t sidestep or bank on a “generous” media to gloss over. Therefore, I created a petition demanding an investigation into the malicious prosecution and race based witch hunt of gun owner George Zimmerman. Because Frankly, if George Zimmerman was black, none of this railroading would’ve happened.  He wouldn’t have been tried to begin with and he certainly wouldn’t be getting investigated by the DOJ now. Furthermore, if Zimmerman, while being pounded into the ground, had picked up a rock and smashed in...

Gay man defends life by shooting attacker who was beating him to death

In a tranquil town in Florida a homosexual man was taking a walk at night when he passed within sight of a black teenager on the phone. That teenager believing the the man was a homosexual then proceeded to loop back around to confront him.  That confrontation consisted of the black man using bigoted terminology while knocking the gay man to the ground and beating his face in and smashing his head upon the concrete. The gay man, instead of being beaten to death in this obvious hate crime, pulls out his pistol and shoots his bigoted attacker once in the chest.  The shot is fatal.  The gay man calls the police and they rule the shooting was justified. Does this story sound familiar?  It is the scenario that played out between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin but through Martin’s perspective. You see, the media in all their race...

Gun owners need to understand: We’re at war

The 2nd Amendment is under siege by an Executive branch who seeks to make the unconstitutional constitutional, a judiciary branch that doesn’t have the stones to put politics aside and do whats right, a legislative branch that compromises a right away with the death of a thousand paper cuts.  A media that is so prone to anti-gun sensationalism that you would think every Main St. in America was the Mogadishu mile.  Race baiting opportunists who wish to profit from tragedy and thus feeds the notion that guns are inherently evil.  Rich hypocrites who use their fame or fortune to criticise the use of a gun for self protection yet pay a cadre of guards to ensure that THEY’RE safe. This is the war that the 2nd Amendment is having waged upon it.  The enemies are loud and their war cries are shrill.  Since they are all working together they...

You gonna skin that smokewagon or just stand there and bleed?

With all the Zimmerman talk as of late I did some reflection on when to carry, when to draw, when to shoot etc.  That’s when the titled quote (condensed version) from the movie Tombstone came to mind. Sometimes when we play the hypothetical game we wonder if a situation would warrant skinning that smokewagon and going to work.  Sorry…I just love the dated lexicon. First things first, when to carry a gun. Answer: whenever and wherever you legally can.  Going shopping, taking a walk, going to a movie etc.  Why?  Because you never know when you may need your firearm to protect your life. To sometimes carry and sometimes not is akin to only wearing your seat belt when you are expecting to crash. I also suggest you get comfortable with your gun, take it to the range and become proficient with it.  And keep it clean and oiled...

Open Carrying could have saved Trayvon Martins life

If you are a subscriber to this blog then you know that I am strongly in favor of the open carrying of firearms and  I have discussed the reasons before. With all the hubbub about George Zimmerman verdict recently, something dawned on me last night that I didn’t register before. If Florida allowed the open carrying of firearms and Zimmerman was doing so the night of the incident, would Trayvon Martin still be alive? For those of you who don’t know, open carry is legal in some form in 45 our of 50 states.  Meaning that in five states the practice is completely verboten. Illinois and New York are unsurprisingly two of these states.  A little more surprising is that Texas, South Carolina and Florida are the other three. But how would the night when Zimmerman and Martin met have been different if Martin turned to see the “creepy...

I guess having to shoot someone who looks like the President’s pretend son means you face double jeopardy

I wanted the weekend to see where things were going to shake out with the whole Zimmerman not-guilty verdict.  As you may know if you are a regular follower of this blog that I believe that Zimmerman acted within the constraints of the law when he shot an aggressor who was trying to murder him. Whether the events that led to that moment were of the best choosing, I withhold judgment one way or the other.  But, I do not believe Zimmerman threw the first punch and I do believe that he had one two choices when he was pinned to the ground, either get beaten to death or shoot. A jury acquitted Zimmerman of all charges despite the best efforts of a Judge who was completely in the tank for the prosecution as well as pressure from DC in the form of the Department of Justice rallying people...

Open Carry should not only be legal, but encouraged

With recent cases of open carry being debated and argued in court and legislatures, namely Mississippi and Arkansas, one might question what the big deal is.  Depending on your mindset you might question what the big deal is one way or the other. There are the anti gunners who seem to crap their pants at even the THOUGHT of someone with a gun on their hips who would prefer to watch someone club a new born child to death and call it a really late term abortion than to see someone exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.  Then there are the pro gun people who, sometimes fanatically, rail against the practice of open carrying for a myriad of reasons from tactical disadvantage to “you’ll ruin it for everyone”. On the flip side you have the average OCer who just prefers that method to carry or doesn’t have the option to...

Some advice from The Shootist, JB Books

As I’m travelling across this great country of ours I have had the pleasure to have spent the past few days in the West (east of California west).  Following the Zimmerman trial on the radio and not trying to spit up my coffee as I hear anti-gun correspondents claiming that Zimmerman should have used a pen like a ninja in order to protect his life, I started thinking about John Bernard Books. For those of you who may not know, JB Books was the main protagonist in the 1976 movie, The Shootist, starring John Wayne.  In it, Books tells a young Gillom Rogers, played by a young Ron Howard, a few truths that more people should live by. First, there was the code that JB Books lived by: I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I don’t do these things to other...

Never bring a knife to a stone and beheading fight

During a Brazillian soccer match in the town of Pius XII, player Linda dos Santos Abreu was ejected from the game by referee Otávio Jordan da Silva de Catanhede. Abreu did not take kindly to his ejection and began to fight with da Silva. The ensuing fist fight came to an abrupt end when da Silva produced a knife and stabbed Abreu, who would later die en route to the hospital.  This action enraged the friends, family and fans of Abreu who stormed the field and stoned da Silva to death, beheaded him and quartered his body sticking his decapitated head at midfield of the pitch. This story doesn’t have anything to do with firearms.  I just wanted to illustrate the hypocrisy of countries with strong gun control who like to point to America and say we are a bunch of unsophisticated cowboys who love guns too much. Yeah…WE’RE the...
