Gun Confiscation in time for Christmas. Yukon Cornelius stripped of his trusty revolver

In another example of liberal political correctness run amok and the desire to rewrite history, beloved claymation character Yukon Cornelius has had his nickel plated six shooter confiscated by toy companies. As you can see in the picture below, Yukon Cornelius was a man who looked after his own well being while out in the harsh wilderness.  He dressed warmly for his environment, had his wool cap and ear muffs, warm weather jacket and pants and some sturdy boots.  He was also well provisioned carrying with him a backpack for supplies, a canteen, a knife, a hammer AND A GUN. Yet while the reasoning for a prospector who spends his life in the wilderness having a gun is pretty solid, today’s “intellectuals” with their soft constitutions and desire to only portray guns in a negative light have stripped Yukon Cornelius of his revolver in their attempt to socially engineer...

The Danger of Forgetting to Fear the Night

Seeing as today is the Winter Solstice, the day with the least amount of sunlight and therefore the most darkness in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought I would reflect on the troubling pattern of society losing it’s fear of the night.  Perhaps fear is the wrong word though, so let us say that society has lost its respect for the night. Back when humans were living in caves and huddled around a fire we feared the night for it was full of predators and dangers.  Be it a sabre tooth tiger looking for a meal or a mastodon herd trampling on by. As society evolved our caves made way for towns with houses  and castles with walls, yet we still did not trust the night for dangers still prowled in the enveloping darkness.  Wolves and bears and lions and such.  But also another predator prowled the night, one that...

In America, freedom of speech is encouraged…so long as you agree with the liberal left

One of the most hypocritical aspects in America is the notion that liberals are some bastions for freedom, acceptance and tolerance. That’s horse manure. Liberals propagate this false notion that everyone should have a voice and everyone should be accepted for their views.  But in truth, liberals believe that everyone should have a voice and everyone should be accepted for their views so long as they speak in agreement and share the same views as liberals. The most recent example making headlines is that of Phil Robertson who dared speak his mind with regards to homosexuality. Tamara Jackson did a great story on the fallout that can be read here: A&E: Phil Robertson on hiatus after frank comments on homosexuality! Phil Robertson gave an interview in which he stated that he doesn’t believe that homosexuality is right and that he does not embrace it.  Yet he also said that he...

Top 5 Cars Obama Doesn’t Want You To Buy This Christmas

Thinking about how Obama does his best to ruin Christmas for everyone (high unemployment, giving Iran free run at a nuclear weapon, bankcrupting people by forcing them to buy overpriced terrible insurance etc.) I thought I would compile a list of the top 5 cars Obama doesn’t want you to buy this Christmas. 5. The Lexus LS. Japan’s flagship luxury model  made by Toyota.  It’s not that Obama wants you to avoid buying this car because it’s not American made, he doesn’t want you to buy it because his buddies in China are having a little row with the Japanese over some islands in the East China Sea and wants to do them a solid.  In the spirit of…Mao? 4. The Zenvo ST1. This Danish made super car is a beauty Obama doesn’t want you to buy.  After his kissy face selfie with Danish Prime Minster Helle Thorning-Schmidt, he...

Man Finds Loophole To Fight Government Tyranny…Of Light Bulbs

What many do not realize is that come Jan 1st 2014, the manufacturing or importation of incandescent light bulbs will be illegal in the United States. The luminous prohibition was set in motion in 2007 with a bill that set strict minimum efficiencies that were impossible for traditional incandescent bulbs to meet. Much like how gun controllers want to impose end around bans on firearms by requiring technological standards that don’t exist, such as microstamping, so too have the haters of the little bulb that has lit our nights for some 100+ years use standards that are impossible to meet. The result, once the stockpiles of warm yellow incandescent light bulbs are gone, we as a nation will be FORCED to use those cold dead fluorescent bulbs or dimmer bank breaking LED lights that start at $15 a bulb. After efforts in Congress to avert the light bulb prohibition...

We shouldn’t accept “Just Following Orders” – Thanks to Sheriffs across the country, we don’t have to

There is something reassuring about Sheriffs that doesn’t extend to other police officers in my mind. Perhaps it is that the Sheriffs are elected and as such cannot be a scourge upon the populace in the way that insulated and crooked cops can be. So often we see crooked cops being brought up on civil rights violations, being found guilty (or the town/city will settle before then), yet the cop goes right back on the beat with little to no accountability for his actions.  In fact, it is the taxpayers who often have to cover the cost of the violations that said crooked cop engages in to begin with.  In that way the taxpayers are paying for their own civil rights being violated. Yet with Sheriffs and their deputies we, as voters and taxpayers, have a direct avenue of recourse if they try and do the same…we vote them...

US Spymasters use octopus to mock Americans in regards to the death of privacy

The octopus.  For more than a century, it has been the animal of choice to illustrate an overreaching, omnipresent and nefarious organization with ill intent.  The Spymasters in the US feel that they are so above reproach that they freely advertise themselves with the symbol. While fitting, it is still a wonder at how tone-deaf the people at the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office are that they have not only chosen the octopus as their mascot but have fully embraced its connotations. The new logo features a giant, world-dominating octopus, its sucker-covered tentacles encircling the planet while it looks on with determination, a steely glint in its enormous eye. The logo carries a five-word tagline: “Nothing is beyond our reach.” Nothing is beyond their reach.  No doubt.  The death of individual privacy, the shredding of the 4th Amendment, the tyranny of the State, nothing seems beyond the reach of the US...

My problem with the Utah CCW Permit

You would think that a state founded by people who faced government oppression would have a healthy distrust of the Federal Government. After being driven from their homes in the east, having their First Amendment rights stripped, and having their territory whittled away by DC cartographers in order to minimize their influence and power in government, one might imagine the state of Utah would be a little less willing to play ball with the Federal Government.   Utah just passed the 500,000 mark for issuing concealed carry permits.  That’s about 25% of the population of the state. That doesn’t mean that 1 in 5 Utahns are walking around armed, though that’d be a great start.   Around 60% of those permits are for out of state residents who live in places that their state license might not grant them a great deal of reciprocity.  A Utah CCW will get...

Happy Freedom From Tyranny Day

On this day, 80 years ago, a majority of states banded together to overthrow one of the most egregious infringements levied upon the liberty of American citizens in this country’s history; Prohibition. With the ratification of the 21st Amendment, the states scratched out of existence the 18th Amendment to the Constitution that made the manufacture, transfer or sale of alcohol illegal. Though such un-American laws have been on the books periodically throughout our country’s history, the act of actually writing one down into the foundation of our country’s most important document is ghastly. We have the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and they’re great at limiting the power the Government can use to crush us with.  But after 11 through 15 that dealt with reconstruction and abolishing slavery we see the Amendments begin to be used to punish and attack American Citizens or for...

Commercial Shows What REAL Gun Owners Look Like; Stark Contrast To Media Sensationalized Caricatures

While the gun haters/controllers try to paint those who choose to exercise their right to keep and bear arms as vigilantes, cowboys and wannabe cops in order to try and marginalize the more than 80 million gun owners in America, there are others who actually like to promote little things like, you know, the truth. And the truth of the matter is that gun owners, by and large, are just regular folks going about their business and understanding that when the moment comes, they are on their own to protect themselves.  Sure, the police can come later and file a report or make a chalk outline but the chances of an officer being present to protect an individual personally are slim at best. Think about it.  How many rapes are stopped by police intervention?  How many home invasions are PREVENTED due to an officer being there by happenstance?  How...

The NFL Promotes Sex and Booze, Bans Self Reliance in Super Bowl Ads

The NFL has banned an advertisement of a gun vendor from the Super Bowl. Was the ad promoting violence and a disregard for human life and went beyond all human decency?  Hardly.  It didn’t even have a gun in the ad, simply a man saying that it was his right to protect his family in the manner of his choosing. You can see the ad in its entirety below: You know what I see in that commercial?  A man taking responsibility for protecting his family. The NFL though, somehow sees this as too offensive.  The hypocrisy of that stance is galling.  The fact that the NFL would have the nerve to say a man speaking existentially about protecting his family is offensive while still promoting alcohol guzzling ads of beer companies and ubiqutious strip teases of Godaddy.com is pathetic. Here’s a taste of what the NFL deems appropriate http://youtu.be/9nvpD_eQgTo...

Gun Controllers push for Robot Apocalypse rather than arming teachers

Sci-fi is only fiction until it isn’t. A company in silicon valley has created a 5ft tall, 300 lb R2D2 looking robot that they hope will keep tragedies like Sandy Hook and other school shootings from happening. “We founded Knightscope after what happened at Sandy Hook,” said the company’s co-founder William Santana Li. “You are never going to have an armed officer in every school.” No, because an armed “officer” (could be a teacher) would be effective and since gun controllers in general have an aversion to logical solutions that work, they march out idiotic ideas like have a robot monitoring the halls. Let’s just touch base with the obvious problem as it relates to Mr. Li’s statement.  Unless this monstrosity is armed with kung fu devensive programming or armament itself (which is another HUGE problem if it were) what you basically have is an oversized, overpriced, overly intrusive smoke...

“Mr. Editor, Is The 2nd Amendment Real?”

Seeing as we have now entered the Christmas season I am reminded of a story some 116 years ago when an 8 year old girl named Virginia wrote to the editor of The (New York) Sun and asked him if there was a Santa Claus.  She asked because her intelligentsia little friends were telling her that he did not exist.  Because THEY didn’t believe in Santa they were intent on forcing other people not to believe either. The editor, Francis Church’s, response in the affirmative that there was a Santa Claus was as poetic as it was truthful and it can be read in it’s entirety here. Nowadays though, there are other groups of smarmy pseudo intellectuals who try to hijack the public consciousness and claim that there is no 2nd Amendment, that if there ever was one, it no longer exists because it is no longer needed. To...

Be Wary, Be Ready, Be Armed.

With all the random acts of violence out there in the world, this holiday season brings two distinct things to two distinct groups.  To many it is a time of gladness and joy over the birth of Christ or the miracle of Hanukkah.  To others it is an opportunity to commit crime or acts of evil. I remember a quote attributed to a bank robber back in the day.  When asked by a reporter why he robbed banks the bank robber replied “because that’s where the money is”. So too, during our festive holiday buying fest, will those with evil intent find the things they desire; namely targets and opportunity.  For a mass shooter there really isn’t a better time or place than during holiday shopping at a mall to go off.  Most malls follow the inane policy of being “gun free zones”, they’re jam packed with people who...

Even if you’re right, don’t hold your breath for the media to be fair

A look at the media, especially the ones with heavy liberal bias like MSNBC, the Washington Post and NPR Radio, one would think that blood runs in the street and everyone is walking around with machine guns and that were purchased at “evil” gun shows.  Not only do media outlets sensationalize and overplay gun crime they do something even more disingenuous by hardly ever covering the many times when guns save lives. I used to think that this was solely an anti-gun mindset that the liberal media held and therefore would only cover stories that made guns and gun owners look bad.  But that is only half the tale.  It’s not just about guns, but rather the media only covers stories that fit into their chosen narrative. For instance, the Knockout “game” has been going on since last year, yet it has hardly gotten any coverage.  Why?  Because it...

The Danger of Appeasement

While Obama is doing downward facing dog with regards to his “negotiating” with Iran over nukes, i just starting thinking of all the times the stance of appeasement failed.  You can read more about the compelling argument that appeasement now has shadows of Neville Chamberlain in 1938 Munich at Conservativebytes.com Mike Devine makes the amusing parody of Obama’s Iran policy as “If you like your nuclear enrichment policy, you can keep it, period.” The examples of failure, that the idea of appeasement provides, are extensive and cover the world over.  It all hearkens back to Benjamin Franklin’s famous line, “Those who would trade in liberty for a little temporary security deserve neither liberty or security.”  With appeasement, by continually giving in a little at a time in order to avoid making a stand and face the growing threat only makes the inevitable all the harder to recover from. I...

Inventor proves TSA security is a fraud, builds blunderbuss shotgun in the airport AFTER the checkpoint

I have long argued that the TSA is just theatre and offers no real protection.  In fact, the TSA makes America a more dangerous place to live since it desensitizes Americans to having their liberties infringed, their 4th Amendment rights erased and normalizes the surrender of these freedoms to the “authority”. But these are philosophical arguments on what it means to be free.  Pretty much everyone can agree that the TSA failing to stop someone from bringing a sawed off shotgun into an airport is a failure on their part. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for guns on planes (would’ve made a difference on 9/11), but if the TSA is there to stop such things, one ingenious inventor has come up with a firearm that not only casts a spotlight on the fraud that the TSA is peddling but also how silly the notion of feeling safe is...

Old and Bad-Ass

I was having a conversation with Mike Furrer (father of Olympic Rifle Shooter Amanda Furrer) recently about a mutual hero of ours, Samuel Whittemore.  Sam was an ornery, grizzled, tough as nails American Patriot during the Revolutionary War. The short story of Sam Whittemore is that he single handedly engaged an entire regiment of Redcoats as they marched back to headquarters after the battle of Lexington and Concord.  At 80 years of age, Whittemore hid behind a stone wall armed to the teeth and laid an ambush on the British.  He attacked with his musket, then dual pistols killing 3 and fighting off the rest with sword in hand.  Eventually the numbers overtook him and he was shot in the face, bayoneted 13 times, beaten and left for dead. Two absolutely amazing things happened next.  First, not only was he found alive when the British moved on but he was...
