Strong Gun Control, Oppressive Government…Welcome to Kiev Ukraine

What does an oppressive government, restricting gun control and a total disdain for the populace get you? So far about 100 people dead and a nation’s capital on fire. Oddly enough, some people STILL claim that such a thing could never happen here. First, they need to be stood correctly, they don’t think something like that can happen here…AGAIN. And i’m not talking about some Whiskey Rebellion on the frontier of Appalachia in the 1700’s.  No, one need only look to the 20th Century to see how an American government can kill and injure it’s own citizens who come to DC for regress of grievances. In 1932 the “Bonus Army”, some 17,000 WWI veterans and their families (approx 43,000 marchers) came to Washington DC to demand their promised bonus money for serving in the “Great War”.  The government’s response?  Send in the Infantry and 6 tanks to drive the people...

Science fiction passes for “sensible” gun control measures

It was bad enough with all this micro-stamping nonsense but now we have to enter the realm of Judge Dredd? To refresh your memory micro-stamping was the flawed technology that was supposed to imprint a micro-print on every shell casing of every round of ammunition fired.  I say flawed because legislation was passed before the technology was ever possible let alone feasible. Think about it, all a person would have to do to get around the micro-print at the end of the firing pin is to grind it off.  A process that naturally occurs after the first few dozen shots anyways.  Or, even if THAT weren’t the case criminals (if they couldn’t get stolen guns) would simply start using revolvers and police their own brass. The goal of micro-stamping legislation was not to actually use it to solve crimes but rather to bankrupt gun manufacturers by forcing them to...

Can a true progressive big government liberal be FOR the 2nd Amendment?

Can a true progressive big government liberal be FOR the 2nd Amendment?  Short answer: No. What’s that?  You know plenty of liberals who are gun owners?  While that very well may be the case there are 2 things to keep in mind.  There is a difference between being a gun owner and being FOR the 2nd Amendment.  One need look no further than the US Senator from California Dianne Feinstein to see what a elitist liberal big governemnt gun owner thinks of the 2nd Amendment.  Basically, so long as SHE has a gun it doesn’t matter how much she infringes on the rights of others. Also, I am talking about true, kool aid drinking, Marx quoting, dyed in the wool big government progressive liberals.  I know plenty of people who claim to be liberal and say they are for gay marriage and pro choice and ending the war on...

With the 2nd Amendment you must make a stand…neutrality has no place

I came across a video and article the other day at LibertyUnyielding.com concerning the group Evolve, some sort of gun safety organization. I say it like that because I have a feeling they are simply a front for a gun control platform.  According to their own FAQ section,  they are happy to work with known anti gun entities in order to promote their agenda. Their agenda though, is the common tripe that gun controllers always like to espouse, “safety, children, blah blah blah”.  Yes, safety is important and no one wants to see children as the victims of gun violence but does Evolve’s so called “neutrality” do anything different than gun controllers? Just take a look at the aforementioned FAQ from Evolve’s website: IS EVOLVE FOR OR AGAINST BANS ON ASSAULT RIFLES AND STANDARD CAPACITY MAGAZINES? Evolve does not address legislative issues, but instead focuses on exerting social pressures in...

Introducing the New York Legal AR-15 rifle and the man bringing it to the Empire State

Nestled in the mountains of the southern Adirondacks is a gun shop that is fighting tyranny by giving back the 2nd Amendment to it’s patrons. With the passage of the SAFE Act and the measures within that are a cross between draconian and byzantine, sporting rifles such as the AR-15 have been prohibited simply because they look scary though they have no functional difference between any other popular hunting rifle. But, instead of just sitting back and accepting a broad sweeping infringement upon the rights of New Yorkers, Rich Sehlmeyer, owner of The Gun Shop at MacGregors, has been waging his own battle against the SAFE Act by helping oppressed New Yorkers keep possession of the most popular rifle in the country. A little bit about Rich and his gun shop first.  A small family business that started a decade ago with just 20 rifles and 5 handguns, the place...

Another liberal activist judge inadvertently strengthens gun rights in America

A federal judge, US District Judge John Heyburn II, has ruled that the state of Kentucky MUST recognize same-sex marriages that were performed in other states. The state of Kentucky had passed a constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriages in the state and part of that amendment was to not recognize such marriages from other states. Judge Heyburn ruled that the exclusion of marriages from other states was unconstitutional based off of the following rationale, that Kentucky’s laws treat gay and lesbians differently in a “way that demeans them.” Heyburn DIDN’T say that the state of Kentucky had to perform same-sex marriages but that they did have to recognize the marriage licenses from other states. Now, THIS is where things get interesting. If the courts rule that a license issued in one state MUST be recognized by another then by extension my Pennsylvania License to Carry a Firearm MUST be acknowledged...

The absurdity of the assault weapons definition

Bells and whistles. That is what makes a rifle an ASSUALT rifle and it is ridiculous. If we  apply the same notion of demonizing to other items that we do to rifles  the absurdity becomes clear. You want a car with cup holders?  It’s an ASSAULT car. Your kid wants a tricycle with a horn, it’s an ASSUALT trike. If your spouse wants a vacuum cleaner with an extendable wand…ASSAULT vacuum. By and large these things do not change the nature or the function of the item, they simply are some bells and whistles that the owner can enjoy.  But cup holders do not make a car any more dangerous nor does a pistol grip or collapsible stock make a rifle so. But to illustrate the absurdity of attacks on so called “assault” weapons and the ignorance that gun controllers bring to the table in doing so, take a...

No innocent is an underdog when they have a gun to level the field

Though it came out years before I was born I do recall watching reruns of the Underdog cartoon show as a child.  I remember the Underdog float in the Macy’s day parade.  Why the sudden nostalgia for a cartoon that turns 50 years old this year?  I came across the theme song the other day and it got me thinking about the world in general. The lyrics are rather apropos for a gun site such as mine.  As such I made the following video that is amusing but also thought provoking.  The good honest people who rise to the occasion when others cry out for a hero are just regular folk.  Old, young, women, men…the only common denominator among them is that they are ARMED and therefore ABLE to fight back against those who would rob or plunder.   Hope you enjoyed that. As a bonus here are the lyrics...

How not to be a jackass with a gun

Not knowing a gun is loaded is not an accident. It’s negligence. Engaging in a shouting match with some mouth breathing gun control zealot does not help anyone EXCEPT the gun control zealot.  The press will spin their drooling vitriol laced rage as being “passionate about protecting children” while spinning you, the gun owner, as a person on the brink of murder. The following video discusses a few things to keep in mind to avoid being a jackass with a gun. Enjoy.   It’s pretty simple folks.  Be safe and don’t lower yourself to the rambling idiocy of the opposition. Don’t provide ammo for them make caricatures of gun owners.   Related articles Hilarious: Pro-Gun Bill Named After Rabid Anti-Gun Fanatic Piers Morgan And He’s Not Too Happy About It Guns. Olympic Charter a lie for many countries

“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.” –Olympic Charter The practice of sport is a human right.  Interesting.  Because I am pretty sure that Shooting is a sport and even has a number of Olympic events.  Yet this HUMAN RIGHT is denied a great number of people around the world.  One need look no further than the past 4 summer Olympic venues. In the UK, handgun suppression for law abiding citizens is absolute and for 16 years was outlawed for even Olympian shooters.  Finally, in 2012, 27 year old barmaid Georgina Geikie will be the first to compete in the Olympic cartridge pistol event since 1996. Of course, if she wanted to practice she still had to...

Justice Scalia reaffirms the need for the 2nd Amendment: “In times of war, laws fall silent”

Discussing cases with students at the University of Hawaii’s Law School, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia found himself questioned with the High Court’s ruling back in 1944 that upheld the convictions of Gordon Hirabayashi and Fred Korematsu for failing to voluntarily give up their freedom and report to an internment camp without due process. Scalia’s response to the Court’s decision was this: “Well, of course, Korematsu (court decision) was wrong. And I think we have repudiated in a later case. But you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again.”  He then went on to quote Cicero by saying: ” inter arma silent leges” (translation: In times of War, laws fall silent) This tyrannical oppression of Americans of Japanese decent during World War II is not the only time that Justice Scalia has spoken on the dangers of usurping peoples rights under the auspices of national...

Mass. Task Force lays out 44 ways the Legislature should infringe on your gun rights

After the shooting at Sandy Hook, a state committee in Massachusetts was charged with devising ways to end gun violence. We are a nation who loves to think everything is coded so you can go ahead and read that as “devising ways to pass acceptable gun control by exploiting the tragedy of dead children.” I’ll give Massachusetts politicians this though, they at least went through the process of giving it some thought, unlike Gov. Cuomo of New York who violated his states own prohibitions in order to jam the SAFE Act down the throats of New Yorkers in the dead of night. So what did this “task force” come up with?  While not completely erasing what’s left of the 2nd Amendment in Massachusetts, as a whole the recommendations are just gun control masquerading as something “new”. The major points: — The Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association should work with...

Drug Freedom Clearing The Road For Gun Freedom?

It’s funny how things work out. A lot of puns and humor were tossed at the two Super Bowl teams this year as both come from states that have legalized marijuana. As a gun rights advocate I am rather curious as to how the whole drug thing will shake out because the federal government is pretty clear that drugs that they deem illegal cannot be allowed by states.  The states of Washington and Colorado disagree. If the Federal Government blinks it will be the blink heard round the world because it will set a precedent in where a state can willfully and overtly ignore Federal Laws in order to conduct state business as an autonomous sovereignty. As a Libertarian I love this.  Please do not take that as me condoning or endorsing the use of heretofore illicit drugs, but if a state wants to pass a law saying that...

Peaceful Rebellion Catching Fire In Connecticut

Gun control zealots, empowered from feeding off the blood of young children, seized their moment to punish the law abiding citizens of Connecticut last year and passed pointless gun control legislation that did nothing to prevent gun violence. Rather, these ghouls who exploit tragedy and the death of young children for their own ends, hoisted upon the innocent, draconian measures that sought to strip the rights from citizens in order to make them subjects and more easier to control. I must admit, I had underestimated the people of the Constitution State, because rather than just bending over and taking it they have risen up in quiet rebellion against this tyranny and have simply said: “No.” The legislation of citizen control that was passed last year in Hartford required that citizens who owned sporting rifles or any magazine that held more than 10 rounds (aka MOST magazines), must have those...

Gabby Giffords Wages War on the Constitution…Gets Warship Named After Her…huh?

Somehow this little tidbit had passed under my radar when it was first released but Gabrielle Giffords, controller and limiter of American Liberty is having an Independence Class littoral combat ship named after her. Previously it was just a hypothetical name as the Navy had only planned to build 2 ships of that class, the lead ship Independence and the second ship Coronado.  But with the near completion of the Coronado the Navy has announced plans to build an additional 10 Independence class ships with the 5th being named the USS Gabrielle Giffords. The irony that a ship in a class called Independence would be named after a woman who is making it her life’s work to deny the ability of regular American citizens to be independent of government control is laughable. Do I have a problem with politicians having ships named after them?  No.  But let’s not fool...

Even when in my favor I reject the idea of “special” citizens – Gun Rights belong to all free Americans

As you have read in my past articles on NY’s SAFE Act, not only do I have a problem with nonsensical rights denying gun control, but I have as big if not bigger problem with the EXCEPTIONS to the laws that are given to politicians, the rich, the powerful and the police. Since I am not a raging hypocrite like my opponents I therefore will not support or encourage legislation that would make one class of people “more worthy” of a right than another. In Iowa, a bill has been proposed that will allow active duty military personnel to buy handguns without going through the arduous and Constitutionally unnecessary process of acquiring a permit. An Iowa house subcommittee passed the bill unanimously and now it heads to the House’s Veterans Affairs Committee. Currently in Iowa, atop the standard federal background check you need to meet “certain requirements” and PAY...

“Assault” Weapons a no-no for citizens but “Patrol Rifles” are a go for cops

I guess we are going to start the week off with some gun control hypocrisy…shocker. The Chicago Police department, you know them; the ones who have fought against citizen’s right to keep and bear arms by claiming there will be blood in the streets, all the while having a disarmed populace being able to do nothing about all the blood running in the streets; decided to get all knee deep in hypocrisy doo doo. Well, not only have the dug in their collective heels while innocent men, women and children are being slaughtered thanks to the success of gun control, but now they have added a dollop of hypocrisy to the bloody stew. In response to the following billboard placed in Chicago:   The Chicago police issued a statement saying: “military style weapons belong on the battlefield and not on the street.” I know that little quip is all...

Treat a lady like a whore, you shouldn’t be surprised when she slaps you

Gun makers are finally saying enough is enough.  For years, gun companies have remained in the gun control heavy states that they were founded in, or they continued to deal with states that chip away at the freedom of the 2nd Amendment . As the title goes, a number of gun makers have said enough is enough and have either moved their operations or have basically boycotted selling their wares to certain states. Of course, this hurts gun owners and workers most, but maybe if the people get upset enough and see that jobs are hightailing out of their state they MIGHT take an interest in who is on the ballot in November. On the 22nd of January, Smith and Wesson joined Ruger in declaring that they will no longer sell their weapons to California based directly on the folly of gun controllers who think that microstamping is in...
