Gun Owners Make Good Neighbors

In an article written by our friend and colleague Tamara Jackson, Tami recounts growing up around guns and the kind of people gun owners tend to be. Not the sensationalized version that fearmongering gun control zealots like to portray but rather the “law-abiding, Constitution-loving, peaceful, give-the-shirt-off-their-back patriots.” The following was first published at ROBAR Guns: Remember the whimsical, lyrical words in call and response style from Barack Obama, “it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion?” And of course his side-kick, Double-Ought Slow Joe reminded his bros in the black community, “They’re gonna put y’all back in chains.” As we’ve seen with the recent church shooting in South Carolina, Obama never wastes an opportunity to jump on the gun-control wagon. But what’s missing from these accusations and stereotypes is the truth. The actual truth about the millions of Americans who shoot, who carry, and conceal...

Texas Open Carry Stumbles At The Finish Line; Allows Police To Abuse Authority

Texas open carry has become a reality as has campus carry.  Those are great things.  I always found it laughable that, before the police in Pennsylvania were properly trained, some cops would harass me and other open carriers and say things like: “This is Pennsylvania, not TEXAS.” Well, Texas has finally joined the other 45 states that allow Open Carry. It by no means smooth sailing as Bloomberg and his cabal of astroturf supporters tried their usual shtick of fearmongering and deceitful propaganda, but to no avail this time. HB910 went to Gov. Abbott’s desk for his signature and he signed it into law on June 13th, 2015. Open carry becomes legal for all permit holders in the Lone Star state come January 1st, 2016. Why the wait?  I don’t know.  And yes, a permit-less open carry law would have been preferable. But where the law really stumbled was with...

Toby Keith’s Words On Guns Don’t Jive With His Restaurants

I like Toby Keith. I like what Toby Keith says about the 2nd Amendment. I DON’T like Toby Keith Bars. First, I’m a fan of whiskey girls, putting boots in the asses of terrorists, giving beer to horses, red solo cups and so on. But I do NOT love his bar.  I’ll get more to that in a moment. After the recent shooting at a predominantly black church by some nutjob white wannabee supremacist, Toby Keith was asked if tougher gun control laws would have stopped the shooting.  While on the red carpet before his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Keith had this to say: “If it can happen in church, it can happen anywhere, so there’s no answer to it.  Countries all over the world that have really strict gun polices, like Oslo, Norway. It happens there.” Great point there Toby Keith. Now here’s my problem:...

Will Pardoned NJ Prospective Police Officer Josey-Davis Enforce Gun Law He Was Convicted Of?

Gov. Chris Christie once again had to pardon an otherwise innocent person when they were snagged by the Draconian gun control law that seeks to disenfranchise the citizens of New Jersey from exercising their rights. On Sept. 20th, 2013 Steffon Josey-Davis was out on a drive with his fiance when he was pulled over for driving with an expired registration.  Josey-Davis informed the officer who pulled him over that he had forgot to move his legally owned firearm from his glove compartment to his trunk after working as an armed security guard with Loomis Armored earlier that day. Well, the arresting officer decided to leave all discretion with his common sense (up his ass) and arrested Josey-Davis for unlawful weapons possession, a felony in the state of New Jersey. In order to avoid jail time and being completely railroaded by an unjust system, Josey-Davis took a plea deal that made...

Bill Seeks To Stop BATFE Abuse Against Gun Owners By Removing Vague Language Exploited By Agency

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and it sure as hell doesn’t have anything to do with “sporting purposes.” The 2nd Amendment is in the Bill of Rights because it is the right of all Americans to defend themselves from tyranny. That is what the Founding Fathers believed, that is what I believe and that is what the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled. Yet, leave it to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to ignore all of that and focus on an vague, undefined term in some gun control legislation passed decades ago. The term is “sporting purposes.” The term “sporting purposes” is undefined by federal statute and has been subject to several reinterpretations by the BATFE and its predecessor agency.  BATFE and anti-gun administrations have exploited the lack of a clear definition of “sporting purposes” to bypass Congress and...

Gun Control Claims Another Innocent Life

There’s an tragic truth behind the fact that gun control only disenfranchises the law abiding…its that said disenfranchisement often comes at the cost of innocent lives. Such is the case with Gun Control working as it was intended in New Jersey. The draconian laws that are instituted with regards to the 2nd Amendment in the “Garden” State are rigged so that the ability for the law abiding to get or carry a gun is in some cases nigh impossible. Of course, for the criminal element, the ability to get a weapon to do harm is all be unfettered. Such was the case in tragedy that befell a 39 year old hairdresser by the name of Carol Bowne. Bowne ‘s ex boyfriend had made her fear for her safety and she did everything she could to try and protect herself.  She got a restraining order, she installed cameras around her...

Supreme Court Ruling Makes Islam More Important Than The 2nd Amendment

On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Muslim woman who sued Abercrombie & Fitch on the basis of discrimination because they denied her a job because she refused the dress code banning head scarves while at work. First of all, I wonder if the court would rule in the same way if the girl in question was a Christian and was denied a job because she refused to remove a cross from around her neck. But I digress.  Let’s just focus on the 8-1 decision by the Supreme Court to award damages to Samantha Elauf.  Of course the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is thrilled because this is a feather in their cap after they sued on behalf of Elauf. I’m going to forgo equating the hijab with saggy pants, tattered jeans or wrinkled shirts.  I will accept that the hijab is not a fashion choice but a religious...

Vince Vaughn Comes Out For 2nd Amendment, At Home, Out, In Schools etc

I usually don’t put much stock in what Hollywood Actors say.  Mainly their insipid illogical liberal bleeding heart bias comes through with such a shockingly high level of hypocrisy that it’s not worth wasting my breath talking about. That is why, when I hear the fresh perspective of a rational thinking Hollywood Actor I am pleasantly surprised. In this case the clarity that I speak of comes from Vince Vaughn.  An actor, by the way that I have been a fan of since Swingers. Vaughn has recently come out in an interview stating the following: “We have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government. It’s not about duck hunting; it’s about the ability of the individual. It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a...

Freedom From Federal Spying Takes Huge Step Forward

In a good day for Liberty in America, the illegal, invasive and unconstitutional spying program run by the NSA against US Citizens has been scrapped in part by the Senate failing to pass an extension. This, in large part, is thanks to Senator Rand Paul who filibustered against the extension of the program and brought the machinations of Congress into the light.  The People, who were the targets of this 4th Amendment violation via the bulk data collection without warrant, began to make phone calls and send letters urging their representatives to follow Sen. Paul’s lead and not extend the unconstitutional program. Of course, those who prefer to shred the Constitution in order to invade the privacy and keep tabs  on every American in the country were not as pleased. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for one bristled under the notion that Americans have a right to be free from...

Maine Poised To Join States With Constitutional Carry

In big news the Maine Senate has passed legislation for Constitutional Carry by a vote of 21-14. In a surprising twist, the vote did not fall completely on party lines, as three Democrats voted in favor of liberty while 2 Republicans turned their back on the Constitution and on the rights of the people. The bill now heads to the state Legislature which is expected to pass it when it is taken up within the next couple of days. The bill, L.D. 652, will Maine the seventh state that allow individuals to carry a concealed handgun without a permit. It has 96 co-sponsors, more than half the members of the Legislature, and the blessing of some members of the Republican and Democratic leadership. It will also be the first New England state that passes constitutional carry.  Vermont doesn’t count because the Green Mountain State has ALWAYS respected the rights of...

Carjacker picks wrong target, held at gunpoint by driver until police arrive (video)

Another happy ending to a potential tragedy.  This one comes with video.  In short, carjacker hops into the passenger side door of a car and tells the driver that a carjacking is going down.  That’s when things go sideways for Mr. Carjacker. Hashim Fannin, the car owner, says the attempted carjacking occurred just after he had pulled into a parking spot at the Family Dollar on Marietta Boulevard in northwest Atlanta earlier this month. In Fannin’s own words: “He told me, ‘You know what this is,’” That is when Fannin says he pulled his gun out. “I asked him to get out the car, probably not in those exact words. I told him no, there’s no leaving, leaving was before you hopped into my car … at this point there is not leaving.” Personally…I LOVE that. It reminds me of the movie “A Bronx Tale” when a bunch of bikers roll into a...

Hurricane Seasons Coming, Floridians Grab Your Guns

When Hurricane Season begins on June 1st, if Floridians have to be evacuated not only will they be allowed to bring their children, their pets and their valuables but will also be allowed to legally carry their guns, even without a weapons permit. With Gov. Rick Scott’s signature of SB 290, all lawful gun owners will be permitted to carry a concealed weapon if they are complying with a mandatory evacuation during a state of emergency.  Talk about common sense gun laws.  While it is true that this isn’t the great leap to Constitutional Carry that we have seen in other states in recent years it is a quantum leap forward in retrospect to how gun owners were treated after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. As you may recall, after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, the authorities, instead of confronting and arresting the roving bands of looters and rapists, decided to...

A Cavalcade of Court Wins For the 2nd Amendment This Past Week

In the past 8 days or so, a number of victories both big and small have popped up in courts all over the North East. In Rhode Island, the strict “May Issue” stance of the issuing authorities of concealed carry weapons permits was struck down by the Rhode Island Supreme Court.  The ruling was in favor of Norman Gadomski against the Police Chief of East Providence, Joseph Tavares.  To wit: Nonetheless, in Mosby, 851 A.2d at 1050, we proclaimed that “[a]s a matter of policy, this Court will not countenance any system of permitting under the Firearms Act that would be committed to the unfettered discretion of an executive agency.” Indeed, we noted that any rights flowing from article 1, section 22 of the Rhode Island Constitution[2] would be “illusory, of course, if [they] could be abrogated entirely on the basis of an unreviewable unrestricted licensing scheme.” Mosby, 851...

Escaped Fugitive Meets Business End of Female Homeowners Firearm

There’s an old adage that 2nd Amendment supporters like to tell people when they are asked why they carry a gun.  It goes: When seconds count, police are minutes away. Well, in a case Redding California, about 100 miles shy of the Oregon border, Jennifer Doolittle proved that even when the cops are seconds you can still face down a desperate escaped fugitive with no one to help you but yourself. Dillon Carmello was on parole for a weapons charge and is a registered sex offender.  At about 9am last Monday Deputies noted that Carmello was “acting bizarre and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance.”  They also mentioned that Carmello kept reaching for his pockets as if he had a gun in them.  Police held him down and had him at gun point but somehow Carmello was able to escape from their custody. From that point the chase was...

New York City, Citadel of Gun Control Beset By Muggings and Random Acts of Violence

New York City, home of some of the most stringent gun control policies in the nation and of gun control gestapo head Michael Bloomberg has seen a sharp uptick of the victimization of its citizens by roves of thugs and criminals. Over the past weekend the disarmed citizens of New York who frequent Central Park were prey to at least 3 unrelated and violent muggings. The first mugging occurred at 9:30pm on Saturday when a gang of 12 teenagers descended upon a couple walking through the park.  The group was armed with knives and tasers and stole the couples cell phones.  For good measure this gang of hoodlums punched the woman in the face. When gun controllers rage on and on about magazine limits they should take a look at this couple who would need more than 7 rounds to stop a gang of 12 who very well could...

Instead of Mercedes SUV, Carjacker gets bullet to the chest from Armed Citizen

In one of those feel good stories that the lamestream media assures you never happens, a carjacker was stopped dead in his tracks (literally) when he decided to jack a car in the wrong parking lot. In a Macy’s parking lot in Orem, Utah, about 40 miles outside of Salt Lake City, Taulagi Matafeo thought it would be a good idea to carjack a woman that he saw in a Mercedes SUV.  Matafeo forced his way into the car with the woman inside and the woman began to scream. Unfortunately, the woman was unarmed and Matafeo was getting close to success until a good Samaritan (WITH A GUN) decided to intervene. Matafeo leapt out of the car to attack this unnamed savior and was shot once in the chest.  He would later die at the hospital. To me, the unnamed 31 year old man is a hero who probably saved this woman’s...

GoFundMe: Unless you support God, Guns or Cops

With the internet reaching new and innovative ways to impact peoples lives a relatively recent phenomenon has begun called crowd sourcing.  Basically the idea that if you have an idea, a dream, a need, a cause or a desire that you would like to have funded you go through a site and have an online money drive. The idea is that the charity of the masses will help you by donating to you cause if they find it worthy. Well, one site, GoFundMe.com has decided that only liberal causes are worth supporting and instead of letting the people who actually give money decide, the big wigs at GoFundMe have decided that they will undermine those who might find like minded people to help them. Apparently, instead of letting the market decide what is worthy these potentates can’t run the risk of some non liberal notions gain any traction. Here...

After 3 Years Gun Owning Senior Wins Lawsuit Against Crooked Cops Who Stole His Firearms

It took three long years, but 75 year old Arthur Lovi finally had his day in court and the police department of Arlington Heights, Illinois were on the losing end of an $80,000 ruling. The story began back in 2012 when Lovi was diagnosed with high blood pressure linked to stress.  His doctor suggested he talk to a therapist to try a lower his blood pressure. Lovi, who was a helicopter pilot for the Air Force during the ’60s  talked to the therapist about his recent losses that he was dealing with. From the Daily Herald: Lovi told her about the loss that had been all around him the past few years: his mother, a 3-year-old granddaughter who drowned, a son-in-law lost to a drug overdose, and worst of all, his wife of 33 years. Cindy had died nine years ago, but to Lovi it was still raw. She...
