Toby Keith’s Words On Guns Don’t Jive With His Restaurants

I like Toby Keith.

I like what Toby Keith says about the 2nd Amendment.

I DON’T like Toby Keith Bars.

First, I’m a fan of whiskey girls, putting boots in the asses of terrorists, giving beer to horses, red solo cups and so on.

But I do NOT love his bar.  I’ll get more to that in a moment.

After the recent shooting at a predominantly black church by some nutjob white wannabee supremacist, Toby Keith was asked if tougher gun control laws would have stopped the shooting.  While on the red carpet before his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Keith had this to say:

“If it can happen in church, it can happen anywhere, so there’s no answer to it.  Countries all over the world that have really strict gun polices, like Oslo, Norway. It happens there.”

Great point there Toby Keith.

Now here’s my problem:

toby keith bar Virginia

That’s the front door to the Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar & Grill in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Soooooooooo….

When Toby Keith says: “If it can happen in church, it can happen anywhere…”

Doesn’t that include in the restaurants that bear his name?  So despite his words, his brand is perfectly happy with stripping law abiding citizens with their right to defend themselves while giving criminals and nutjobs the safe environment to go on a killing spree.

Well, I guess that the good people of Viriginia didn’t take too kindly to being disarmed and the Woodbridge location closed last month.

So what is it, Mr. Keith?  Do you actually believe in the 2nd Amendment or is it just opportune when you are selling records?  I know if I put my name on something it sure as hell is going to respect the peoples’ right to keep and bear arms.

But hey…that’s just me.

Before any of you who are big Keith supporters start in on the fact that he doesn’t OWN all the restaurants, that’s true.  But franchises have to adhere to a strict control…that’s why you don’t see a rogue McDonald’s selling sushi in Detroit.

If Toby Keith says: “So long as it has my name on it, it will respect the 2nd Amendment” then guess what…they won’t be gun free zones any longer.
