Suicide Guns For Sale: Bad Kharma or Just Discounted Firearm?

In honor of the Halloween season, I bring you a story touches on the macabre.  In Greensburg, PA, a place a little to the east of Pittsburgh, the county coroner is auctioning off 97 guns used in suicides and accidental shooting deaths. The sale is to take place on November 8th and will be the first governmental gun sell back in Westmoreland County since the 1980’s. Corner Ken Bacha says state law requires local governments sell off unclaimed property. While they have often have sales auctioning off property and vehicles this will be the first gun auction since Bacha’s fater Leo, was coroner back in the 80’s.  Proceeds will help fund county government.  The coroners office takes possession of weapons during death investigations.  Family members have a year to claim these weapons before they become county property, but under the nature of which they were last used, it is understandable that...

Homeowners Associations may have started out with the best of intentions but have morphed into a ego driven, group think run, oligarchy of nosy nimwits who seem to, more often than not, hate America. As I had written earlier in the month, such a group in Indiana had fired a groundskeeper for having a gun at his OWN home. But this is not an isolated incident but rather a reflection of HOA’s and private communities who are run by people who think they can have their own fiefdom. With elections across the nation happening next Tuesday, many voters may still be on the fence about who to vote for.  With all the campaigning and outside money flooding into states around the nation it is hard to get an accurate reading on where candidates line up on the notion of gun right versus gun control. Why Gun Control Laws Suck

Because frankly, guns saves lives while gun control costs them. A law abiding citizen who exercises their right to keep and bear a firearm does so for the protection of themselves and others.  A criminal with malicious intent in their heart will use ANY weapon they can, ignore all laws therein, and will be creative in their want of destruction. The recent Ottawa shooter?  He was banned from gun ownership.  So much for gun control. School Principal Arming Up to Protect His Students

Instead of putting his faith in imaginary magic force-fields generated by “gun free zone” signs, a school principal in Ohio is utilizing the opportunity provided him to do something that would actually make a difference in protecting his students. In Trenton Ohio, Edgewood High School Principal  Russ Fussnecker has decided to take advantage of the law that gives him an ability to carry a firearm while at work.  While Fussnecker is a gun owner, he still needs his Concealed Weapons permit and then undergo special training in order to be allowed to carry while on school grounds. The special training will be provided by the Butler County Sheriff’s department and upon successful completion, Fussnecker will earn the certification necessary to carry a loaded firearm into public school buildings. Backwards Bullet…what happens when you load a bullet backwards in a casing? [Video]

I have to admit, I never thought of this, but if you load your ammunition and choose to load the bullet in reverse it has some surprising results. The theory is that by putting the concave portion of the bullet at the top, the shooter will have effectively created a projectile that will work as a hollow point round. In the following video from the Ammo Channel, the host puts this theory to the test using .308 Winchester rounds that he loaded himself. He uses both the traditional loading and the reverse loading then shoots into both ballistic jelly as well as steel plate. I found the results to be rather interesting but not unsurprising.
