Sensible Lawmaker Moves To Protect Gun Owners From Witch Trial Justice

During a dark time in this lands history (1692-1693) all someone had to do in order to get someone else burned at the stake, drowned or crushed to death was point at them and yell “WITCH!!” It’s shameful that after more than 3 centuries California lawmakers have brought back the practice of being judged guilty without due process. I’m speaking of AB 1040 which passed the state legislature last year which allows someone to point at a gun owner and yell DANGER and that gun owner will have their property stolen by the state. Evidence?  Proof?  No no no…we have someone hysterically yelling and pointing a finger; so in California we don’t need pesky little nuisances like due process and presumption of innocence getting in the way. New Year, New Laws, Same Absurdity

Welcome to the year 2015.  Along with the big party  and the personal resolutions there is yet another tradition that comes with the dawn of a new year.  January is often the time when laws from the previous year are enacted.  This year is no different. With the Federal Government this is the year where citizens will be forced to pay a fine if they do not yield to the governments dominion over their lives and purchase Obamacare. But of course that is not all, there are 3,541 new rules and regulations that rang in their first new year along with us in a register 78,978 pages long.    While among those 3,541 new rules and regulations there are plenty of personal infringements and undermining of small businesses, I want to focus on the new laws passed on the STATE level that are just awful.  So bad I question whether...

The Duplicitous Nature of Requiring Good Cause In Order To Exercise 2nd Amendment Right

DC has, because they were forced to by the courts, enacted legislation that allows people to get pistol permits in order to carry a firearm while in the city…sort of. Unfortunately the District looked to places like New York City and other rights infringing metropolitan areas to model there new program on.  And while they MAY be technically following the judges orders, it is akin to a childish tantrum in which a parent tells one child to stop touching the other so the belligerent child holds his fingers a hairs breath from the skin all while cackling “I’m not touching you, I’m not touching you.” As the Associated Press reports: “Mayor Vincent Gray and other city officials said they plan to propose legislation that would make the District of Columbia similar to a half-dozen states, including Maryland, where residents can be denied a concealed-carry permit if they can’t show...

At what point in the course of human events when it becomes necessary to dissolve the political bands and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, do we leave the notion of treason behind and embrace the liberty of revolution? Last week a man, Cliven Bundy made a stand.  He would not let the federal government illegally seize his property in a bid to have his livelihood and thereby his land stripped from him. In 1776 Thomas Jefferson wrote a little something that the preamble of this article artfully interspersed within itself, it was called the Declaration of Independence.  Now, most of us know WHAT this is…but do you know what is SAYS?  Not the catch phrases and buzzwords like “all men created equal” and “life liberty and the pursuit of happiness”...

The powers that be in Connecticut have decided that little things like the Constitution and Rights have no place in the (ironically named) Constitution state. When you have the Connecticut State Police spokesman, Lt. Paul Vance declare that anyone who voices opinions contrary to support of the new gun control law “sounds anti-American” one cannot help but hear shades of the Gestapo looking to root out any perceived opposition to the dictatorship. Here is a quote from Lt. Vance during a phone conversation with a woman whose husband received a letter saying he must turn in or destroy his weapons because the authority didn’t get the paperwork in time: “Ma’am, it sounds like you’re anti-American, it sounds like you’re anti-law.” According to Vance, if you are not lock step in line with the government’s oppression then you are Anti-American. Justice Scalia reaffirms the need for the 2nd Amendment: “In times of war, laws fall silent”

Discussing cases with students at the University of Hawaii’s Law School, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia found himself questioned with the High Court’s ruling back in 1944 that upheld the convictions of Gordon Hira­ba­ya­shi and Fred Kore­ma­tsu for failing to voluntarily give up their freedom and report to an internment camp without due process. Scalia’s response to the Court’s decision was this: “Well, of course, Kore­ma­tsu (court decision) was wrong. And I think we have repudiated in a later case.
