Republican Governor Rick Snyder of Michigan vetoed 2 bills recently that would have helped law abiding citizens be able to protect themselves without having to kow tow to yet another layer of governmental bureaucracy. As it stands now applicants for weapons permits must go through a review board process which can easily be stacked with agenda driven gun controllers who can simply say “NO” to an applicant. The two measures, Senate Bills 789 and 790, would have mandated an end to the review board process across the state. In their stead, county clerks would have assumed the task of issuing concealed carry permits as long as the applicant met all requirements and passes a background check from the State Police. On Sunday January 11th a pizza delivery girl was attacked at gunpoint by two thugs looking to rob her and who knows what else.  Thankfully, since this took place in Decatur Georgia and not New York or Washington DC, things turned out a little differently than the attackers would have thought as the girl pulled out her own gun and shot one of them, 24 yo Donquaz Stevenson, in the face after she was knocked to the ground. Unfortunately, the state of Wisconsin has recently suffered it’s 100th homicide in which a firearm was used.  Note what I just said…the STATE of Wisconisin…that’s the entire population of rougly 5.75 MILLION people.  Bad things happen, but those 100 murders in a relatively gun friendly state is a LOW number. I received a call Sunday afternoon by a producer from CBS News wanting to interview me on my thoughts about the owner of Maryland gun shop, Engage Armaments, retracting his idea of selling so called “smart” guns in his establishment. Concerning the interview, unfortunately the timing couldn’t work so I’ll be interested in seeing who they get to fill in tomorrow (Monday) night.
