Apply Gun Control “Logic” and David vs Goliath Plays Out A Little Different

An Episcopal Bishop recently said that Jesus wouldn’t be in the NRA and that “there is no Biblical scripture to support gun ownership”, I began to think of stories from the Bible that encapsulates the right to keep and bear arms. The story that came to mind was David and Goliath. To summarize, Goliath stood nearly 9 feet tall, wore 125 pounds of body armor, wielded a spear whose iron head weighed 15 pounds along with a sword as a backup weapon. David carried an assault sling shot with a high capacity magazine of 5 smooth stones that he picked up on the way to meet Goliath. Now, at this point let’s start applying Gun Control “Logic.” First of all David was a youth and shouldn’t even have access to a projectile weapon and Saul should have kept it locked in a combination safe. Secondly, who needs more than one...

Wife Uses Gun To Stop Gang From Beating Her Husband To Death, “Mom’s Demand Action” Point To It As Reason To Ban Guns

As if one needs anymore proof that gun control zealots couldn’t care less about safety and their real objective is the complete dismantling of the 2nd Amendment, Mom’s Demand Action illustrates that truth perfectly. In Wichita, Kansas a group of men began mercilessly beating a youth football coach because one of the men’s son wasn’t allowed to play in a game.  And why wasn’t the kid getting playing time?  Because he and his family STOLE the football equipment from the previous year…or rather that they didn’t return it. As Jerome Crawford, director of the Wichita Titans (a team in the league) puts it: “It’s kind of a mutual understanding between teams.  The only way to maintain our stuff (equipment) is to not allow them to play for another team until we get our stuff back.” Seems perfectly reasonable to me, especially with the price equipment.  So the child wasn’t allowed to play...

CCW Permit Holder Stops Knife Wielding Madman at Grocery Store

In Salt Lake City Utah, a man walks into the Smith’s Marketplace grocery store, purchases a kitchen knife then heads to the parking lot and goes on a stabbing spree sending two to the hospital in critical condition. The number, thankfully was kept low because a law abiding citizen with a gun happened to be in the store and upon exiting Smith’s and seeing what was going on drew his firearm and subdued the knife wielder until police arrived. According to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brian Purvis: “(The bystander) was suspicious of what might be going on, and when he saw the stabbing, he just drew his pistol and challenged the individual.” “This was a really volatile situation that could have gotten even worse.  (The bystander) was definitely in the right place at the right time.” Isn’t that EXACTLY what I and other gun rights advocates have been preaching...

Why you should ALWAYS carry a sidearm when you go hunting

You never know when a black bear is going to chase you up a tree and chew on your leg. Washington State bow hunter Jerry Hause found himself in the unenviable position of being on a black bear’s dinner menu when he was out hunting on Labor Day.  House, 60, was out with his 26 year old son in a remote section of forest near Abernathy Creek, about 8 miles west of Longview WA. After a hike of about 3 miles into the wood, Jerry took a rest against a tree before starting to flush game towards his son.  He set his pack and bow beside him as he leaned against the tree and that is when he saw it.  A black head about 80-100 yards away that he figured was a bear.  At that point, Hause decided it was time to move on.  “I stood up and in...

Armed Widow Fights Off Home Invader

Gun Controllers are inherently sexist.  They would prefer that women remained unarmed and hide themselves behind big strong men, or police officers or just, in the gun grabbers twisted mind take the “moral highground” and get beaten and raped because that’s better than shooting someone. Fortunately for 47 year old widow Cynthia of Phoenix, she doesn’t ascribe to the Brady Campaign’s mindset in this regard. Cynthia’s late husband had taught her how to shoot and to defend herself, so that when the day came she had the ability to do more than just cower and hope. That day came earlier this year in May when Cynthia hear someone breaking into her house.  She retrieved her gun, locked herself in the bathroom and called 911. Below is the audio of the situation. (it repeats itself so it’s only about 6.5 minutes long) http://youtu.be/TuugBS9gfQc A few things to take from that....

Man Saves Friends by Fighting Off 5 Attackers With His Firearm

Fortunately the good citizens of Milwaukee are heeding the advice of their Sheriff and arming up.  Sheriff David Clarke has long been a voice of reason within his county, made ever so evident in his public service ad he ran last year: “I’m Sheriff David Clarke and I want to talk to you about something personal: Your safety. It’s no longer a spectator sport. I need you in the game. But are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. … Consider taking a certified safety course in handling of firearms, so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?” The entire city of Milwaukee can thank a 30 year old West Allis  man for “partnering up” with Sheriff Clarke...

Mom Passes the Buck to Homeowner When Her Criminal Son Gets Shot During Burglary

Another case of complete ineptitude on the behalf of a parent in never believing that THEIR child could do ANYTHING wrong so it must be the bad senior citizen whose house her son innocently tried to robs fault.  I try to steer away from blaming parents for the crimes of their children…sometimes kids are just bad, but when you attack a law abiding gun owning senior citizen because they protected their home after your son invaded it with malicious intent…then shame on you. From Liberty Unyielding: “Now, kids, remember: If you break into a private home and someone there is armed, you risk getting shot.” It’s not a typical piece of parental advice, but in view of the growing spate of home invasions by teenagers who end up on morgue slabs, maybe it’s high time it became one. The Merced (Calif.) Sun-Star identifies the most recent casualties as Steven Crider, 16,...

Something to remember on May the 4th, don’t mess with Jedi’s

As you can see in the following video, a man enters a Tuscon Arizona market around 1:30am demanding money and from the back of the store the purveyor, “Jedi” master Maen Mdanat, senses a disturbance in the force. Mdanat first uses his Jedi mindtrick to entrance the would be ne’er-do-well with a wave of his hand and explaining “this is the door you are looking to leave from.” And for a while the mindtrick seems to be holding as the man begins to leave but he is able to shake it off right after the door opens and sucker punches Mdanat. With the time for diplomacy past, Mdanat seems to go into unarmed lightsaber combat Form IV: Ataru,  and with quick rapid strikes the trespasser found himself outside the market, on the flat of his back, begging for mercy. A master in Ataru combat could appear like a blur to...

Happy Easter, let’s talk about sacrifice

Happy Easter. For those of you who do not know, this is the day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead after sacrificing his life for the salvation of mankind. Now, nothing I am about to talk about will quite compare to saving the souls of billions but  I want to talk about the notion of sacrifice. We as American’s have been getting fatter and fatter off of our success.  I don’t necessarily mean that literally…but I don’t necessarily NOT mean it either. Most of us enjoy a comfortable life with few TRUE hardships.  Even if you are poor in America chances are you have food to eat and clean water to drink.  A great many other countries cannot boast the same.  And there is a difference between going to bed hungry and actually starving to death.  Yet even going hungry is a small portion of the wealth and...

Forget Birds and Stones: British Sniper Kills 6 Terrorists With 1 Bullet

As the old adage goes, it is a good thing to be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. How great is it then for the (as of now) unnamed 20 year old Lance Corporal to stop a violent terrorist attack from ever happening when he shot the TRIGGER SWITCH from a suicide bomber from over 930 YARDS AWAY. In making this incredible shot not only did the Lance Cpl kill the bomber but also the five fellow Taliban terrorists next to him. While this action happened in December it has only been recently made public.  The incident took place in Southern Afghanistan in an area called Kakaran. Lt Col Richard Slack, commanding officer of 9/12 Royal Lancers, said the Lance Cpl. prevented a major attack by the Taliban, as another suicide vest packed with 44lbs of high explosives was found nearby. And don’t go thinking this soldier...

Gun Girls of CPAC – Killing the Stereotype

Gun controllers and gun grabbers of the intolerant left have long tried to promote this idea that gun owners are a fraternal order of good ole boys.  That ALL gun owners can be encapsulated in a caricature of being a bunch of old fat white guys. Nothing could be further from the truth.  Personal protection, freedom from tyranny; these are sentiments that translate regardless of age, gender or color. Gallup Polling has been tracking guns trends and women have skyrocketed in recent years in terms of gun ownership and concealed weapons permit applications.  After all, why wouldn’t they?  Most women in their right mind realize that they don’t need to be a victim or helpless in order to be a feminine woman. Only liberal mouth breathing troglodytes who hate guns think that it is morally superior for women to be raped and murdered than to fire a gun in...

Remembering a Hero – Medal of Honor Winner Walter D. Ehlers

When I was in basic training some 12 years ago, one of my drill sergeants advised that it would behoove us to, after we finished our training, take time and go to VFW’s and military halls and talk to old time veterans.  Those that punched Nazism in the face and saved the world from evil.  His reasoning was simple enough, they won’t always be there to talk to and year after year more and more finish the long march to their reward. While I did heed my drill sergeants advice, I sometimes regret that I didn’t give more of an effort to seek out the old dogs of war and hear their tales. So, when I hear that another of the greatest generation has shuffled off this mortal coil I like to take a moment and highlight the heroism, now seven decades past, that should still reverberate in the...

No innocent is an underdog when they have a gun to level the field

Though it came out years before I was born I do recall watching reruns of the Underdog cartoon show as a child.  I remember the Underdog float in the Macy’s day parade.  Why the sudden nostalgia for a cartoon that turns 50 years old this year?  I came across the theme song the other day and it got me thinking about the world in general. The lyrics are rather apropos for a gun site such as mine.  As such I made the following video that is amusing but also thought provoking.  The good honest people who rise to the occasion when others cry out for a hero are just regular folk.  Old, young, women, men…the only common denominator among them is that they are ARMED and therefore ABLE to fight back against those who would rob or plunder.   Hope you enjoyed that. As a bonus here are the lyrics...

Son saves father’s life with literal shot in the dark

In Van Zandt County Texas, east of Dallas, a son is being hailed a hero for saving his father’s life. Weldom Atherton was awoken in the middle of the night as he heard a prowler rummaging through his property. Weldon saw the intruder scuttle away but he got his rifle just in case he returned, which he did soon thereafter.  Weldon got up behind the thief and tapped him on the back with the rifle. BREAK– Bad move Weldon, never get that close, you have a rifle, not a stick, shortening the distance to where the bad guy can grab it will do no good. At this point the thief turned and took a step toward Atherton, who thought he was going to go for the gun and told the thief that if he took another step he would be shot.   The thief ran off at that point....

Does America need to look to Mexico for a reminder of the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment?

The 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting. That is a well and established fact. And while the 2nd Amendment is about defense it does not end there. You see, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms goes so much further than simply defending yourself and your property.  It was enumerated in the Constitution so that the people would always have the means in which to defend their liberty and freedom from dangers both foreign AND domestic.  Namely its own government…or those who act freely with the government’s allowance. And, despite what VP Biden would have you believe, you need a little more than granddaddy’s ole double barrel shotgun blasting warning shots to do so. But in the US, it seems many have forgotten our roots.  That, while this country was founded on ideals, it was forged at the muzzle of a gun and the tip of a bayonet. For those...

Why don’t the heroes who stop mass murderers get better press?

If I say Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and Aurora you will most likely think of the mass shootings that took place there. I also think about all those places being gun free zones and how well that worked out. But what would come to mind  if I said: Pearl High, Parker Middle School Dance, Golden Market and  Clackamas Town Center? If you are like most Americans you probably don’t know anything about these places and that is a shame because they are all places where a law abiding gun owner STOPPED a mass murderer before they could ratchet up the body count.  Does the media trumpet these citizen heroes and repeat their names ad nauseam so they become household words? No.  Their names are often unreported save for the local press of their town because apparently stopping a mass murderer with the ability to kill hundreds isn’t as...

When seconds count police are only HOURS away

Do you remember playing telephone as a child?  A group of you would whisper a message to each other along a line and see if it stayed intact and coherent from the first person to the last.  Well, unfortunately in real life the results aren’t as hilarious if you are waiting for the police to help you. In Dallas, a man who defended his store while being robbed by 4 armed gunmen had to wait 74 minutes for the police to arrive because the 911 operator couldn’t understand what he was saying.  Fortunately for the store manager he had his .38 revolver and was able to drive the attackers off and shooting one. Yet it took so long for the police to arrive the manager decided to go home and wait.  When the police finally showed up they called him to come back and give his report.  I shudder...

Armed neighbors make good neighbors. Man saves neighbors’ lives instead of waiting for police

Earlier this week in Kenneth City Florida, Gjon Hila entered the home of 52 year old Tonin Poti while Poti was hosting a Christmas party.  Upon Hila’s entering, neighbors reported that they heard the screams of women and children.  Shortly after the screaming started so did the gun shots. Hila shot both Poti and Poti’s son in law Gzim Rrgalla, 38 as well as wounded several other unidentified people. Tonin Poti’s neighbor, who is also his son, 28 year old Elton Poti heard the commotion and rushed directly over to his father’s house where he promptly shot Hila dead. Miraculously, the elder Poti and Rrgalla were still alive and were rushed to the hospital where they were treated for “life threatening injuries”. Not only is this yet another example of a firearm being used to save an entire family from a murderer but also another reminder of how far away...
