Never discount the silent majority when they are moved to action by injustice.
Cracker Barrel, looking to hop on the bandwagon and cash in with liberal fascists and their “woe is me, i’m a victim” campaign against anyone who might have a differing opinion than they do, has quickly come to its senses.
It took less than a day for the righteous indignation over the railroading of Phil Robertson to make itself known to the shotcallers at Cracker Barrel (thanks to MILLIONS of people supporting Phil) as they almost immediately rescinded their boycott of all thing Duck Dynasty from their store.
Hey Cracker Barrel, with the grand total of ZERO stores in NYC, LA, SF and Boston and the vast majority of your locations being south of the Mason Dixon line maybe placating people who don’t even go to your store while alienating and infuriated those who do wasn’t the most economically wise decision. Let alone the fact that being some wishy washy gutless corporation that refuses to make a stand one way or the other just makes you pathetic.
Seriously, what did you think was going to happen? GLAAD and co were going to start having their meetings in your establishments? Gay rights supporters were going to start shopping and eating at Cracker Barrel in shows of support?
Or were you afraid that the next gay person that came into your store and saw some Duck Dynasty gear would leave in a huff and never patron your store again?
See, the problem with most times that liberal fascist wish to mute dissenting opinion with threats of boycotts and other such tactics is that the majority of people who push for it and those who follow them don’t patron those stores to begin with.
It’s a lesson CB learned quickly enough.
From the Cracker Barrel Facebook Page:
“We were flat out wrong. Our intent was to avoid offending but that’s just what we’ve done. You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. Today, we are putting all our Duck Dynasty products back in our stores. And, we apologize for offending you.”
A few things to take away from their statement.
First, the silent majority, when they make their voices heard affect change dramatically.
Second, if Cracker Barrel is going to hang Phil Robertson out to dry so quickly and are so tone deaf to their consumers I doubt the big wigs running it really share the same principles as their patrons.
Thirdly, their apology is bogus. They apologize for doing something that they thought would make them money but turned out to cost them a lot.
In comparison, Phil Robertson ain’t apologizin’ for nothin’.
He is not selling out his beliefs for monetary benefit.
He is not turning his back on Jesus in order to be embraced by people.
He is making his stand, whether you agree with it or not, but he will not be fickle with his beliefs and that is a true and honorable thing.
Politicians, companies, liberals etc can learn a lot about principle from a man like Phil Robertson.
