FSU Gun Free Zone Disarmed CCW Holder and Combat Army Veteran

Once again we see that Gun Free Zones do nothing to actually stop criminals with ill intent from shooting up a place.  The preponderance of examples of its utter failure has finally begun to sink in to the American consciousness and slowly but surely we are seeing places pull down those asinine signs.  One place that has been slow to adopt this sensible and logical approach is, ironically, schools of higher education.

Oft times bastion of liberal academics who would place their own ideology over the safety of their students, they still erroneously cling to the idea that a 8×12 inch sign is going to stop a bad guy in his/her tracks.

I thought these people were supposed to be educated.

At Florida State University, a sign like that didn’t stop would be mass murderer from shooting up a library.

Who it did stop was a couple of law abiding citizens, one a combat veteran, who had clear shots to end the situation before it escalated, had they NOT followed the rules.

From Liberty Unyielding:

One of the victims of last week’s Florida State University shooting is a concealed weapon permit holder. Another person who was there is a seasoned combat Army veteran who “had a clear shot at the shooter” during the incident. Both were helpless to do anything because FSU is a “gun free zone.”

Although the concealed carry holder, Nathan Scott, was himself shot in the leg, he was nonetheless able to limp out and warn others. But university policy stripped him of the tools he needed to actually stop the shooter.

The FSU chapter of Students For Concealed Carry credited the fast response time of local law enforcement personnel for having prevented even more injuries, but the group unequivocally states that the shooter could have been brought down earlier with a change in state law.

“The events of the last week in Tallahassee make plainly clear that it is unacceptable for responsible students who have gone to training, had extensive background checks, had their fingerprints taken, are of legal age, and are licensed by the state to be prevented from carrying their self-defense weapons on campus,” the group said in a statement posted to its Facebook page.

Just another example of gun controls utter failure and yet STILL gun hating mouth breathers are defending their position that “more guns aren’t the answer.”  Tell that to Nathan Scott who took a round in the leg or to Ronny Ahmed who is now paralyzed thanks to a madman’s bullet.
