Non-Gun Real World Example Of “Better To Have and Not Need Than Need and Not Have”

Gun control zealots are all about bemoaning the point that the chances of a person needing a gun are remote.  It may suprise many of my readers but I agree with them.  Fortunately the vast majority of gun owners will never have to use their firearm to protect themselves. But so too will a vast majority of homeowners not have their house burn down yet no one is suggesting that fire insurance is somehow only purchased by pyromaniacs. Do seat belts make people worse and more reckless of drivers? I can go on and on with this track of logic, logic of course being the bane of gun control.  And I could highlight gun owners who were raped or robbed or murdered because they were in a “gun free” zone (or non gun owners who never had a chance), then show comparative footage of gun owners who stopped such...

The Correlation of Mentalities Between Planet Fitness and Gun Haters

In case you haven’t heard, mainly because you work out at a gym that doesn’t encourage laziness, sloth and in general flabby weakness, Planet Fitness has banned squat racks from their establishments. You can read more on that here: Gym Removes Squat Racks for Being ‘Intimidating’ to Squishy Clients Now, don’t get me wrong, fat or weak people shouldn’t be mocked or humiliated at a gym when they are trying to better themselves but the idea that in order to do so you must undercut other people who wish to improve themselves is ridiculous. I think treadmills are stupid.  Many people get on the hamster wheel and take a leisurely stroll and think they are actually working out.  Do I think treadmills should be banned from gyms?  No, if someone wants to waste their time with it, it’s no skin off my nose.       But if I want...

Another innocent man being railroaded by gun control

I guess “innocent” is technically not true but what was not a crime a week ago is one now, as Tyrone Watson found out. The 30 year old Bridgeport man is the first person to be charged in Connecticutt for having a “high capacity magazine”. Or, rather, for having the magazine that came with his handgun known by most rational people as a normal magazine.  But this is what happens when gun controllers get to arbitrarily dictate what is “high capacity” and define what is “normal”. Few pistols now a day hold less than 11 rounds, the noticeable exception being the 1911 and its clones.  But Glocks for instance, favored by law enforcement departments around the country hold 15 rounds standard.  Springfield Armories popular XD line hold 13 rounds for the .45 (also standard) and even more for the smaller caliber rounds.  The Baretta 9mm holds 15 rounds as...

A SAFE Act? Cuomo official uses handgun as laser pointer during presentation

Perhaps while Andrew Cuomo was forcing the unconstitutional SAFE Act down the throats of New Yorkers he should have included the confiscation of guns by his own administration. It has come out that on October 24th of last year, Jerome Hauer, Cuomo’s Dir. of Homeland Security, took out his Glock 9mm handgun (you know, the one WITHOUT a safety) and used the laser pointer on it to give a presentation to a Swedish delegation. As you can imagine the Swede’s became a little discomforted as Hauer waved his handgun around, flagging them all as he spoke and gesticulated. Apparently being the Dir. of NY’s Homeland Security doesn’t mean you know the first thing about gun safety, of which one of the tenets is never point your weapon at something you aren’t willing to destroy. And this isn’t an overreaction of the foreign delegation as I too would not be...

John Shuster…bane of the US Winter Olympic Team

I saw the enemy of American excellence on television last night…John Shuster. I had hoped that he would fall away in infamy after the debacle of Vancouver 2010. But no.  John Shuster has either come back for redemption or the complete implosion of another US Olympic Curling team heading to Sochi. Do you not know who John Shuster is?  He is the skipper for the US Men’s Olympic Curling team and the shame of America. Long story short, John Shuster choked so badly in Vancouver, especially on February 18th, that he single handedly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. And it is thanks to John Shuster that I learned that Wikipedia has a history feature that you can see the old edits of pages.  The only thing that helped me recover from the national embarrassment of John Shusters display was the fact that I was not alone and...

Chicago politics loses another round to the Constitution

The “Chicago Way” took another hit on the chin as a federal judge has ruled that Chicago’s end around to try and infringe upon its citizens right to keep and bear arms was unconstitutional. Gun Control advocates, never letting a right go unmolested had attempted to ban sales of gun within the city.  The city, mind you, that was the murder capital of the country two years running even though it had a complete ban on private citizens carrying firearms.  A city that in the month of August, with it’s complete ban on carrying a firearm had 52 firearm murders and 224 people being shot.  The city felt the need to further deny the rights of its citizens to defend themselves when the CCW issuance finally went into effect in 2014. By this they hoped to drive sales of legal guns as far outside of Cook County as possible...

Why don’t the heroes who stop mass murderers get better press?

If I say Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and Aurora you will most likely think of the mass shootings that took place there. I also think about all those places being gun free zones and how well that worked out. But what would come to mind  if I said: Pearl High, Parker Middle School Dance, Golden Market and  Clackamas Town Center? If you are like most Americans you probably don’t know anything about these places and that is a shame because they are all places where a law abiding gun owner STOPPED a mass murderer before they could ratchet up the body count.  Does the media trumpet these citizen heroes and repeat their names ad nauseam so they become household words? No.  Their names are often unreported save for the local press of their town because apparently stopping a mass murderer with the ability to kill hundreds isn’t as...

What if your freedom of speech was limited to one topic?

That is the equivalent of what Federal District Court Judge William M. Skretny ruled in regards to New York States ridiculously named SAFE Act. In his opinion Judge Skretny ruled that the provision of a 7 bullet maximum for magazines was unconstitutional.  Outside of any 1911 owners that pretty much would have outlawed all semi automatic pistols. Now, sure this is a victory of the 2nd Amendment…a victory borne through resounding defeats. Skretny also ruled that everything else in the SAFE Act is constitutional. These provisions include: -The “Assault Weapons Ban”.  Not only limited to rifles but any firearm that has ONE miiltary feature, be it a telescoping or folding stock or a pistol grip on a long gun.  How exactly these features make a weapon any more dangerous is beyond me but the bed wetting gun controllers who know nothing about firearms apparently equate black guns to violence and...

When seconds count police are only HOURS away

Do you remember playing telephone as a child?  A group of you would whisper a message to each other along a line and see if it stayed intact and coherent from the first person to the last.  Well, unfortunately in real life the results aren’t as hilarious if you are waiting for the police to help you. In Dallas, a man who defended his store while being robbed by 4 armed gunmen had to wait 74 minutes for the police to arrive because the 911 operator couldn’t understand what he was saying.  Fortunately for the store manager he had his .38 revolver and was able to drive the attackers off and shooting one. Yet it took so long for the police to arrive the manager decided to go home and wait.  When the police finally showed up they called him to come back and give his report.  I shudder...

Let’s Kickoff 2014 With A Little Humor

Let’s face it, 2013 was a little rough for America and her people.  Between the loss of privacy, Obamacare and dangerous gun control measures like the SAFE Act, lady liberty took a few shots to the chin.  With that in mind I figure the first article of the new year will have a few chuckles in it to lighten the mood and start the year on a spry step. What is the best substance to oil a firearm with? | | | | | | | | | | ———————————————————————————————– In Washington , D.C. an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near. “Yes, Father?” said the nurse. “I would really like to see President Obama and Senator Reid before I die,”...

Don’t Resolve, Revolt! What Are Your New Year’s REVOLUTIONS?

A couple of days ago I heard a child misspeak about New Year’s Resolutions by calling them New Year’s Revolutions. After a quick chuckle I got to thinking.  Resolutions are cliche and pointless.  They breed crowds at fitness centers and health food stores for the month of January before they are abandoned completely come February. New Year’s Resolutions are dependent on a people’s resolve and that is too often all but lacking when people are squared off against themselves. But with New Year’s Revolutions you are actively and consciously saying that in the upcoming year, “NO, I will not stand for it”; the “it” being whatever you are revolting against.  Want a real world example of how long calling something a “revolution” can go on for? Look to Cuba, the Castro’s have maintained power for over 5 decades by promoting the idea that the Cuban revolution is STILL going...

Say it ain’t so Toby Keith…guns banned at YOUR restaurants?

In case you haven’t had the pleasure of going to a Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, I have to say it is a pretty fun time.  Last time I was out in Folsom California a couple of friends took me and it is a good place to see some live music and with a good crowd of country lovin boot wearin salt of the Earth types, of which California actually has a few. It was my to my amazement and discontent that I have learned that the newest TK Restaurant will be prohibiting peoples right to defend themselves.  Now, if this was in NYC or DC or some other oppressive locale I would understand that it was the government that was making potential victims out of law abiding citizens…but this new restaurant is in VIRGINIA! True, it is in NORTHERN Virginia, about 20 miles away from...

Armed neighbors make good neighbors. Man saves neighbors’ lives instead of waiting for police

Earlier this week in Kenneth City Florida, Gjon Hila entered the home of 52 year old Tonin Poti while Poti was hosting a Christmas party.  Upon Hila’s entering, neighbors reported that they heard the screams of women and children.  Shortly after the screaming started so did the gun shots. Hila shot both Poti and Poti’s son in law Gzim Rrgalla, 38 as well as wounded several other unidentified people. Tonin Poti’s neighbor, who is also his son, 28 year old Elton Poti heard the commotion and rushed directly over to his father’s house where he promptly shot Hila dead. Miraculously, the elder Poti and Rrgalla were still alive and were rushed to the hospital where they were treated for “life threatening injuries”. Not only is this yet another example of a firearm being used to save an entire family from a murderer but also another reminder of how far away...

Let us not forget the meaning of Christmas and what we are celebrating

In all the hubub of Christmas shopping and the commercialization of the holiday it is good to take a step back and remember the reason for the season and what it is we are celebrating. Don’t get me wrong, I love unwrapping Christmas gifts under the tree in the morning and giving gifts in love and friendship to those near and dear to my heart, but that is not what Christmas is about.  That is what is done to celebrate it. Too often the line between those two separate notions get blurred. But this is the day we recognize that some 2013 years ago, Jesus Christ, the Messiah and savior of all mankind was born.  His birth was a miracle and far away Kings were guided by a star to pay homage to this babe in swaddling cloth, giving him gifts.  This boy would grow to be the single...

Sung in a different tone “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” gets ominous

Have you ever thought of listening to the song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” from a different angle? I mean, if you lower the key and slow the tempo and change the focus of inflection you find yourself with a rather ominous song. You BETTER watch out, you BETTER not cry You BETTER not pout, I’m tellin you why SANTA CLAUS is COMING…to town (like a hitman on contract) He’s making a (hit) LIST and checking it twice He’s GONNA find out who’s been naughty or nice (there’s no hiding from this maniac) He SEES you when you are sleeping He KNOWS when you’re awake (stalker much?) He knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake (or else)   The threat isn’t implied it’s pretty explicit like a racketeer offering protection…because “ho ho ho…you wouldn’t want something bad to befall your store like...

Iconic AK-47 Inventor Passes Away

I love America. I think we are pretty much the bees knees when it comes a lot of things But sometimes you’ve got to give a commie his due. The world lost a pioneer today, Mikhail Kalashnikov passed away today at the ripe old age of 94. His lasting legacy will be the firearm that bears his name, the  Avtomat Kalashnikova that he created in November of 1947; thereafter known colloquially as the AK-47. Despite being the poster child gun for gun controllers who wish to stamp out so called “assault rifles” the AK-47 is one of the most impressive rifles of the modern era. Compared it a M-16, which can be fickle in both weather and cleaning, the AK can be tossed in a mud pit, covered in sand, run over by a truck, left there over the winter and still be ready to fire when you pull the trigger. It...

Gun Confiscation in time for Christmas. Yukon Cornelius stripped of his trusty revolver

In another example of liberal political correctness run amok and the desire to rewrite history, beloved claymation character Yukon Cornelius has had his nickel plated six shooter confiscated by toy companies. As you can see in the picture below, Yukon Cornelius was a man who looked after his own well being while out in the harsh wilderness.  He dressed warmly for his environment, had his wool cap and ear muffs, warm weather jacket and pants and some sturdy boots.  He was also well provisioned carrying with him a backpack for supplies, a canteen, a knife, a hammer AND A GUN. Yet while the reasoning for a prospector who spends his life in the wilderness having a gun is pretty solid, today’s “intellectuals” with their soft constitutions and desire to only portray guns in a negative light have stripped Yukon Cornelius of his revolver in their attempt to socially engineer...

Cracker Barrel has boycotted Duck Dyna— uh…nevermind. Plus, Phil Robertson ain’t apologizing

Never discount the silent majority when they are moved to action by injustice. Cracker Barrel, looking to hop on the bandwagon and cash in with liberal fascists and their “woe is me, i’m a victim” campaign against anyone who might have a differing opinion than they do, has quickly come to its senses. It took less than a day for the righteous indignation over the railroading of Phil Robertson to make itself known to the shotcallers at Cracker Barrel (thanks to MILLIONS of people supporting Phil) as they almost immediately rescinded their boycott of all thing Duck Dynasty from their store. Hey Cracker Barrel, with the grand total of ZERO stores in NYC, LA, SF and Boston and the vast majority of your locations being south of the Mason Dixon line maybe placating people who don’t even go to your store while alienating and infuriated those who do wasn’t...
