Zero Tolerance Run Amok: Piece of Brass Gets Child 6 Month Suspension

In yet another example of hysterical political correctness knee jerk reactions, a student at a Kansas elementary school was suspended for six months because he happened to pick up a piece of spent brass that his mom had expended the day before.

From Liberty Unyielding:

The student, Camron Carlson, picked the casing up off the ground and placed it in his pocket when he accompanied his mother who was sighting in a rifle the day before, according to The Chanute Tribune.

“Our family does a lot of deer hunting,” Camron’s grandmother, Mary Sue Carlson, told the Tribune. “This is hunting country.”

Camron said that the following day it fell out of his pocket as he was leaving the restroom at school. Another student took notice and reported the incident to a teacher. Camron was eventually called into the principal’s office, which in turn called the boy’s mother, Deana Carlson.

The Tribune reported:

Carlson was called into the school office where she saw her son had been crying.

Carlson said she was not happy with her son for having the shell casing, which everyone agrees he should not have had at school. She said she was told by Principal Gary Wheeler that the incident could lead to a 186-day suspension, but they could possibly reduce it to five days if he spoke to Superintendent James Hardy.

“I looked at him and I said ‘this is the wrong call,’” she said. “I could understand if there was a student who had multiple offenses … there was nothing dangerous about what he had done. My son is being discouraged and looked down upon for being a boy.”

Six months?  Really?  For a piece of brass?  This just once again show that institutional authority is suspect when they would dole out punishments so out of sync with the actual offense.  At no point did the child threaten anyone or try to harm anyone.  He simply picked up a shiny piece of brass and held onto it for a keepsake.

The school is trying to demonize ALL things firearm related in order to mold more bed wetting gun haters.

Parents need to stay more involved in what goes on in their child’s education because not all the indoctrination is as blatant.  The most dangerous kind is much more subtle.

  • This incident highlights one of two seldom considered reasons why the
Second Amendment is doomed. For both reasons and for something MUCH MORE
potent than the optional Enlightenment right to bear arms in defense of
    ourselves, families, and neighbors, see

2nd A is not doomed. People will not comply and the govt doesn’t have enough buerocrats to enforce an end to our gun rights.

      • SoSalty, thanks for replying.

Note, I didn’t say that they’ll ever get our weapons, just that the Second Amendment itself is eventually doomed.

Think about it: The Amendment with the wording “shall not be infringed” is the MOST infringed, licensed, and limited Amendment of the entire twenty seven. Furthermore, a future generation of our posterity is likely to see the Second Amendment whittled away entirely or repealed altogether. This is the inherent nature of optional rights easily controlled by government versus non-optional God-expected responsibilities, such as the following:

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house [beginning with spiritual and physical protection], he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

What we will see is people who dont pay attention as to what does go on at school Trusting to omnipotent godlike beings who think they have all the answers and should determine not only what your child should be taught but will provide the overreaction to the smallest infraction enforcing their authority. With every action taken without reaction and control from parents reenforces and expands their control over the school and parents for next retribution will be demanded and allowed by liberal judges even with no fact or presidents in law. The communitien forced to have two parents that work to sustain the family what time do they have that can be devoted to meetings for not many can afford the time to attend. We also see that even when the parent is in attendance and has a complaint they are severely limited in time to tell the board their complaint. The complaints are not discussed then and only in closed meetings. Power and control will produce the mind controlled robots our government wants. I have acted but was fortunate to afford a lawyer that laid a lawsuit at their feet that involved individual names. they quickly found the local community wouldn’t fund lawyers and quickly resigned as was my request to the lawsuit not continuing. Using suits directed both at individuals and the community can get results. What is wanted is the removal and the requirement these people can nor run for school positions again.

In Taft CA, Byant Oliver bragged to his schoolmates he was going to get revenge, brought a shotgun to class, and indeed did shoot a classmate in the chest. Yet our jury couldn’t convict. Armed criminals get a pass while it’s open season on the responsible gun owner culture. There’s money and feel good nonsense for the antis.
