Just’a good ol’ boys…Never meanin’ no harm.
But apparently that’s not good enough for the rabid, foaming at the mouth, thin skinned radicals of the left.
In case you haven’t heard, the cable channel TV Land has kow towed to progressive pressure and pulled the Dukes of Hazzard from the lineup.
Why?
Because the General Lee, the iconic television car has the Stars and Bars emblazoned on its roof.
Never mind that the Duke boys were in no way racists. That the General Lee was never used in a hit and run against a black person or in anyway could be viewed as being inherently racist.
No. Just the fact that some people may have a sense of pride in their heritage, liberal progressive mouth breathers feel they must stomp it out as quickly as they can because of an isolated incident.
Not only has TV Land pulled the show from its network, Warner Brothers has also announced that it will no longer produce General Lee toys with the Flag on the roof. Basically it will just be an orange car now.
And if you think this doesn’t have anything to do with guns, you’re mistaken. The knee jerk reaction and demonization of anything Progressives don’t believe is pulled from the same playbook regardless of the situation.
Be it guns, the Stars and Bars, Marriage, God, the military or anything else that is “too American”. Progressives will lay in wait until they can exploit some tragedy and then make so much noise that fool the weak willed into thinking they have a majority. Then people like those who run TV Land, Starbucks, Uber, eBay, Walmart, Amazon and Sears cave in and give the Progressives a victory to crow about.
I’ll tell you right now, enough is enough. I’m from the North. I think Sherman was a genius and his march to the sea was one of the greatest military achievements in history. I think Babe Ruth was better than Hank Aaron. I like sweet tea but prefer Arnold Palmers.
But dang it if these progressive nitwits don’t make me want to go out and get the Stars and Bars tattoo’d on my arm.
Once they stamp out the Battle Flag of the Confederacy it is only a matter of time before they set their sights on Old Glory. Because the Stars and Stripes was the flag that flew over slavery for 84 years. It was the flag that flew over segregation. That flew during Vietnam. That flew when women couldn’t vote.
No doubt once they get far enough along their power trip, Progressives will demand a NEW flag that doesn’t have any stigma on it.
As to avoid offending anyone it will probably will end up being a existential representation of the flag so that everyone has a flag in their own mind…by which I mean there is no flag…just what the Progressives who tirelessly chew away at the foundation of this country want.
No flag, no pride, no hope.
Then the Progressive’s true work can begin.
The General Lee was an iconic symbol of the fight for freedom that the a couple of people who would not be cowed, waged against a corrupt system.
Funny, how some 30 years later it is once again.
