Embattled and disgraced Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo has found himself mired in a number of criminal investigations ranging from obstruction of a justice to witness tampering.  Ironically enough these allegations come on the heels of Cuomo disbanding his own commission created to clean up corruption of state politics.  The Moreland Commission had a brief existence, being formed on July 2nd of 2013 the commission was abruptly shut down in March of 2014 with no explanation given.  The commission was supposed to run until January of 2015. This time in Milwaukee, the money juggernaut that is Michael Bloomberg failed to buy a primary election for his anti gun candidate for Sheriff.   In the Democratic primary for Sheriff of Milwaukee county pro gun incumbent Sheriff David Clarke had to fight off not only his challenger but also Bloomberg with a carpet bag full of $150,000. That was the amount that Bloomberg spent to try and defeat Sheriff Clarke.  That amount is also more than Clarke and his opponent Chris Moews spent combined on their own campaigns. Shockingly over the weekend a Judge ruled that “the right to keep and bear arms” ACTUALLY included bearing arms. In Palmer v District of Columbia, Federal Judge Frederick Scullin Jr. ruled that the Second Amendment existed OUTSIDE a person’s home.  With a decision so obvious I do wonder why it took 5 years to issue this decision.   Perhaps the five year wait had to do with Judge Scullin delving DEEPLY into both Heller v DC and MacDonald v Chicago to issue this resounding and total conclusion:  “there is no longer any basis on which this court can conclude that the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home is constitutional under any level of scrutiny.” That wording is important.  According to the correct ruling of Judge Scullin, the right to bear arms is just as paramount as the right to keep them....

In some feel good news today a federal appeals court said this week that an atheist group trying to keep the Ground Zero Cross out of the National September 11 Memorial Museum must better explain how displaying the artifact is “offensive” and violates members’ constitutional rights. The cross measures 17 feet high and is a the remains of two I beams that survived the destruction to remain standing.  Those on the ground at the time and in the weeks following 9/11 took solace at the cross and it became an indelible symbol of resolution and hope for many.
