#WEARINGORANGE Campaign Pushes Same Old Gun Control Narrative

Countless celebrities, politicians,  and other public figures have tweeted pictures with the hashtag #WearingOrange to draw attention to National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Sounds like a noble cause, right? I don’t personally know anyone who’s for senseless violence–do you?  What could possibly be wrong with this occasion? Plenty of things. Why be skeptical? It’s an effort headed up by Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, the parent organization of Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Both of these groups are also notorious for their anti-gun, pro-disarmament positions. They exploit tragedies and profit from fearmongering.  Several people have tweeted me saying this is a nonpartisan, moderate campaign. Texas open carry has become a reality as has campus carry.  Those are great things.  I always found it laughable that, before the police in Pennsylvania were properly trained, some cops would harass me and other open carriers and say things like: “This is Pennsylvania, not TEXAS.” Well, Texas has finally joined the other 45 states that allow Open Carry. On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Muslim woman who sued Abercrombie & Fitch on the basis of discrimination because they denied her a job because she refused the dress code banning head scarves while at work. First of all, I wonder if the court would rule in the same way if the girl in question was a Christian and was denied a job because she refused to remove a cross from around her neck. In big news the Maine Senate has passed legislation for Constitutional Carry by a vote of 21-14. In a surprising twist, the vote did not fall completely on party lines, as three Democrats voted in favor of liberty while 2 Republicans turned their back on the Constitution and on the rights of the people. The bill now heads to the state Legislature which is expected to pass it when it is taken up within the next couple of days. The bill, L.D. 652, will Maine the seventh state that allow individuals to carry a concealed handgun without a permit. It has 96 co-sponsors, more than half the members of the Legislature, and the blessing of some members of the Republican and Democratic leadership. In one of those feel good stories that the lamestream media assures you never happens, a carjacker was stopped dead in his tracks (literally) when he decided to jack a car in the wrong parking lot. In a Macy’s parking lot in Orem, Utah, about 40 miles outside of Salt Lake City, Taulagi Matafeo thought it would be a good idea to carjack a woman that he saw in a Mercedes SUV.  Matafeo forced his way into the car with the woman inside and the woman began to scream. Unfortunately, the woman was unarmed and Matafeo was getting close to success until a good Samaritan (WITH A GUN) decided to intervene.
