Here is another example of the need for the 2nd Amendment.
The case of Cliven Bundy and his stand against government oppression for the past 20 years may result in a trigger happy fed murdering him in cold blood.
The gist of it comes down to the fact that in 1993, the government levied a tax on the land that Bundy’s family has used since the 1880’s in a roundabout attempt to drive him bankrupt and ensure that he could not pass his ranch on to his son.
Now they are moving in armed troops to steal Bundy’s cattle.
Just like bogus Eminent Domain cases that result in campaign kickbacks and immoral quid quo pro practices, the federal government is trying to disguise their crime by saying this action is to “protect” the desert tortoise.
But the local politicians in Nevada aren’t buying it. Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins said of the situation:
“The U.S. government has perpetrated a bigger fraud on people over those tortoises than Al Capone did selling swampland in Miami.”
And just like the heavy handed tactics of a Chicago mobster the feds have loaded the area with guns, men and bullets (some of those billion bullets they’ve been stockpiling no doubt) and have basically surrounded the Bundy property. This has allowed them to begin stealing the Bundy cattle.
Cliven Bundy described his feelings to the Washington Free Beacon:
“What’s happened the last two weeks, the United States government, the bureaus are getting this army together and they’re going to get their job done and they’re going to prove two things. They’re going to prove they can do it, and they’re gonna prove that they have unlimited power, and that they control the policing power over this public land. That’s what they’re trying to prove.”
And when Bundy dared to have the nerve to video tape the feds theft, federal snipers trained their weapons on the family, forcing them to stop and arresting one member for “non-compliance.” You see, the family wasn’t in the “FIRST AMENDMENT ZONE.”
No…that’s not plucky sarcasm…the feds have actually created a First Amendment Zone.
Now, to all the gun grabbing zealots and hoplophobes out there who say that we don’t need the 2nd Amendment to protect all the others, this one sign cries out that we do. The Bureau of Land Management created a 1st Amendment Zone in a place remote enough that their cattle rustling could not be videotaped. That is akin to having the right to vote but not to cast a ballot. It’s ridiculous and tyrannical.
Let’s not forget…men like Cliven Bundy founded this land. They settled the west and provided food for the masses. They carved out from a hostile land a bit of something good and noble. They created something pure and true and did not ask for the governments charity while they were doing it.
Why do we need the 2nd Amendment? Because any government that can wantonly seize land and property, designate 1st Amendment Area’s under threat of death, cajole the tax code for nefarious governmental gain and put its full effort into destroying the very soul of liberty is a government that needs to fear its people once more.
I’m not saying Clive Bundy and his family should have a shoot out with the feds for I do not think it would work out for him. But I hope that people understand that what is happening to Bundy is just the continuation of the subjugation of the American people and the American spirit. One day, the government will go too far and I hope that we as a people have not been complicit in our own subjugation.
