It’s disheartening to see what has become of college campuses around the nation in the few years since I left the hallowed hall of the Cathedral of Higher Learning.
Universities used to be, though mostly run by those tilted left, bastions of ideas and the ability for thought provoking discourse and challenging of ones ideas.
Now, thanks to liberal intolerance and the coddling of students so that they never are presented with anything that challenges their indoctrinated beliefs or sense that liberal ideology can even HAVE an opposing view, college campuses around the country are establishing “safe spaces” so that liberals don’t have to face the fact that there are people out their with differing opinions.
Even at my Alma Mater in conservatively blue Pittsburgh I recently read a story about how the College Republicans invited outspoken Breitbart Tech Editor Milo Yiannopoulos only to have liberals gnashing their teeth about how scared they were at the things he said.
According to the University of Pittsburgh’s paper, The Pitt News:
“During his talk, Yiannopoulos called students who believe in a gender wage gap ‘idiots,’ declared the Black Lives Matter movement a ‘supremacy’ group, while feminists are ‘man-haters.’”
Apparently having different beliefs sent many of the students wetting their pants and calling for heads to role. Marcus Robinson, student and president of the Pittsburgh Rainbow Alliance had this to say:
“So many of us shared in our pain. I felt I was in danger, and I felt so many people in that room were in danger.”
Danger from one person talking about not agreeing with your life choices? Give me a break. Robinson would also blame the University for not providing counselors in another room for students who felt “traumatized” by Yiannopoulos opinions.
Honestly millennials…GROW THE FRACK UP. No one FORCED you to go and listen to Yiannopoulos’s presentation. And if someone’s differing opinions are enough to make you feel like you are being physically threatened then toughen up. You have been coddled in this sound vacuum where only your opinion has been heard that you can not even accept another opinion could be had without having an emotional breakdown? That’s a YOU problem and YOU need to take your milquetoast thin skin and put in some work on improving yourself.
Basically, safe spaces are the segregated drinking fountains of today. I would make a reference to non liberals being sent to the back of the bus…but liberals in today’s colleges don’t even want non liberals on the bus.
The most ironic part of the whole Pitt debacle was this:
But ALL people AREN’T welcome…people who aren’t lock step with the liberal movement don’t get the invite. They use the drinking fountain down the hall out of sight. That’s ok though…most non-liberals aren’t crybaby pantywaists who come down with the vapors the second someone disagrees with them. Non liberals are made of sterner stuff.
Liberalism is the most liberty denying, rabidly bigoted ideology of today. Sure, they say you can think what you want and do what you want…so long as you think exactly like they do and what you want isn’t a gun or to pray in public or to not pay for someones repeated abortions or sex change operation.
If you do, then you are to be ostracized, shunned, harassed and ridiculed until you either give in and toe their line or they banish you for not assimilating.
So yes, liberalism is killing free speech on college campuses.
Not surprisingly, liberals want to blame guns.
