In Lower Township, NJ, 32 year old Russell Percenti was arrested after shooting down his neighbors drone that was flying over his property taking photos. It is bad enough that we have to suffer the Constitution shredding loss of privacy at the hands of the government, but now actively protecting high tech voyeurism when it trespasses on our very own property (500 feet above one’s property is acknowledged as that persons private air space) is a bitter pill indeed.  Not surprising such a miscarriage of justice is taking place in New Jersey. Shockingly over the weekend a Judge ruled that “the right to keep and bear arms” ACTUALLY included bearing arms. In Palmer v District of Columbia, Federal Judge Frederick Scullin Jr. ruled that the Second Amendment existed OUTSIDE a person’s home.  With a decision so obvious I do wonder why it took 5 years to issue this decision.   Perhaps the five year wait had to do with Judge Scullin delving DEEPLY into both Heller v DC and MacDonald v Chicago to issue this resounding and total conclusion:  “there is no longer any basis on which this court can conclude that the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home is constitutional under any level of scrutiny.” That wording is important.  According to the correct ruling of Judge Scullin, the right to bear arms is just as paramount as the right to keep them....

In a tragic story out of Los Angeles, LA County Sherriffs killed a hostage that they mistook for a knife wielding maniac. A  911 caller told dispatchers a man with a 10-inch butcher knife was threatening people. So when Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies saw a wounded, bloody man rush out of a West Hollywood apartment with someone following him, they opened fire. Of course, the second innocent hostage, 30 year old John Winkler, fleeing for his life didn’t have a knife on him because well…he was an innocent hostage FLEEING FOR HIS LIFE.  Unfortunately that means that he fled right into a hail of bullets by some trigger happy cops.  But apparently the cops feel bad about it so somehow that makes it ok.  In a statement released by the LA County Sherriff’s Dept, the entire department mourned Winkler’s death. In a story that is just full of fail a man from Maine had his home besieged by SWAT troopers armed with assault rifles because he had a tattoo. In Norridgewock Maine, Michael Smith works nights so when a tree removal crew entered onto HIS property and started making a racket at 10am he was understandably upset.  Smith arose from his bed and went outside to tell the intruders to get off his property and to keep it down.  Coming directly from his comfortable bed Smith didn’t feel inclined to put a shirt on.  It was this inaction that revealed his “dangerous and frightening” tattoo; that of a handgun by his waistband. The second day of CPAC was pretty much your standard fare, more red meat and all. There was a forum in the main hall entitled: “Can Libertarians and Social Conservatives Get Along”…even after sitting through the entire forum I wasn’t exactly sure if they could. After the forum though, Rand Paul took the stage to a packed house and the applause was exuberant and deafening.
