Ranger Jane Coming Down the Pike..Will They Earn It?

As if Demi Moore’s portrayal of a sailor attempting to be the first female SEAL member was a portent for things to come, the US Army is being forced to include women in all combat roles by 2016.  To be honest, as a former soldier I am not against this.  If a woman wants to put her life on the line in order to defend this great country of ours I’m all for it. IF… that woman is able to maintain the standard.  The lowering of standards just to allow women to pass is not only a disservice to the female soldiers but also endangers lives for the placating of political correctness.  That is something that should be unacceptable.  US Military personnel are all ready hemmed in by rules of engagement that are sewed up by political motivations, no need to compound the difficult job soldiers have to do...

Pretty Pin Ups With Guns, Utah is NOT Pleased [Video]

In a story that mashes together the reserved nature of Mormon dominated Utah, with the sexualized fits of fancy you would expect from a pin up calendar, a bit of situation has arisen in the Beehinve State. The calendar maker, Hot Shots, filmed a promotional video of their models during the photoshoot that took place both in the desert flats as well has the mountain peaks of Utah.  The film and subsequent calendar utilized equipment from the Utah National Guard, both vehicles and weaponry. Some in the state of Utah are not happy about it and as such are demanding an investigation into the entire situation.  I’m not exactly sure what they are looking to investigate as the video clearly shows that the bikini clad models are firing live ammo and rolling around in tanks and armored vehicles, not props. Here, take a look for yourself.  Note, there are...

Obama Bans the Importation of Guns but NOT the Importation of Ebola

Once again the Obama administration proves just how much they hate guns, not in the direct attack of the 2nd Amendment but rather in the manner it handles itself when actual threats toward this country present themselves. In Executive Order 13661, the Treasury Department was authorized to sanction the Russian Gun Maker Kalashnikov Concern and block the importation of further weapons.  The firearms that are now blocked from being imported include Saiga rifles and shotguns, most notably their AK line. Obama continues to block the re-importation of 600,000  M1 Carbines as well as 80,000 Garands that are both historical and collectible as they were the surplus of the firearms used by US troops and South Koreans during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953.  But as Obama has proven in recent times he has little interest in bringing home those who have served the US military. So Obama continues to block...

What Soldiers Do In Their Downtime

For all of us who have served in the armed forces, the term “hurry up and wait” is not an unfamiliar concept.  Despite what the movies and action films would have you believe, the life of a soldier is best described (especially in a war zone) as: Long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror. To put it lightly, there is a LOT of downtime.  And there is only so much downtime a person can take before they need to find some avenue of mental stimulation. Yes, there are things to do, but there are only so many times you can sweep a floor or check your gear before it just becomes punitive.  And yes, lifting weights and playing cards are options but they can become repetitive.  So every once in a while some high speed low drag trooper comes up with an idea and gets his...

2nd Amendment Infringements Endanger US Troops and Their Families

When you add up the number of military personnel, including National Guard, Reservists and the Coast Guard, the United States has about 2.2 million service members who have volunteered to put their lives on the lines to defend this nation of ours. Yet a great deal of these troops have been betrayed by their state governments and denied the protection that the 2nd Amendment enumerates.  Even by the MOST LIBERAL ANTI GUN interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, these 2.2 million people (if no one else) should not have their 2nd Amendment right infringed. If you are a service member in Vermont or Alaska or Arizona then you have nothing to worry about because your state recognizes the 2nd Amendment rights of all it’s citizens.  Yet if you live in New York, Maryland, San Francisco and other such dens of iniquity you are pretty much out of luck, just like...

The Boys of Pointe Du Hoc and Reagan’s Speech Honoring Their Sacrifice

This site isn’t just about guns…it’s about liberty.  And sometimes, especially on this day, the anniversary of D-Day, we should take a moment to remember that freedom has rarely been given and has mostly been won. How is freedom won?  At the point of a sword, at the tip of a spear, at the muzzle of a gun…with brave men and women willing to die for the achievement or preservation of liberty.  Like the boys of Pointe Du Hoc: I shiver to think that a mere 70 years since so many gave so much for the liberation of a foreign land, that we find ourselves on the precipice of losing our liberty through apathy and acquiescence. Corrupt government agencies targeting American citizens to disagree with policy. Over reaching big brother agencies trampling on civil rights.  The executive branch, backed by billionaires, seeking to undermine our last refuge of resistance....

Obama, a walking cluster@#(k as commander in chief

As I was talking with a friend last night he asked if Obama could be playing so stupid as to be brilliant. I assured him it was no act.  The man is just a craven cowardly America hating, soldier resenting socialist with dreams to diminish the American spirit to the point that we forgo our entrepreneurial spirit and become beholden to the government for all our needs. In case you haven’t noticed…I’m a little peeved with his highness, King Barack. As a former soldier, the recent stories that have been making the headlines recently have resonated with me in both their absurdity and the disgraceful manner in which the Commander in Chief has reacted to both. On one hand you have Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi whose only true crime was getting lost in the desert and being found by Mexicans.  Despite what the Sanctuary City crowd would have you...

Let’s Not Forget What Memorial Day Is Really About

I like a three day weekend as much as the next guy.  I enjoy picnics and baseball, hot dogs and hamburgers and all the other trappings of Memorial Day weekend. But in our leisure, let us never forget what Memorial Day actual is. It is a day set aside, for us to remember that good men and women laid down their lives for us to enjoy our way of life.  They answered the call their country sent out and gave fully of themselves in their duty.  They have not gone forth as conquerors but as liberators. As Colin Powell so eloquently put it in 2003: “We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we’ve done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have...

Here’s what Valor and Honor Look like

Cpl Kyle Carpenter only had a split second to make a choice.  He could either think only of himself and flee from a dangerous situation or literally jump headlong into danger in order to protect his fellow Marine. Cpl Carpenter chose the latter. On November 21st of 2010, Carpenter and his squad were securing Patrol Base Dakota against the Taliban in  the southern part of Afghanistan.  It was in this push to secure a stronger presence in the volatile region where he and fellow Marine, LCpl  Nicholas Eufrazio, found themselves on a rooftop in an overwatch position.  Around 10am insurgents pressed an attack and started throwing grenades, one of which landed in the middle of Carpenter and Eufrazio’s rooftop nest. It was in that split moment that Carpenter leapt into action and “distinguished himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of...

Federal Shocktroopers Nearly Murder Family Who Dared Film Them As They Stole Their Cattle

Here is another example of the need for the 2nd Amendment. The case of Cliven Bundy and his stand against government oppression for the past 20 years may result in a trigger happy fed murdering him in cold blood. The gist of it comes down to the fact that in 1993, the government levied a tax on the land that Bundy’s family has used since the 1880’s in a roundabout attempt to drive him bankrupt and ensure that he could not pass his ranch on to his son. Now they are moving in armed troops to steal Bundy’s cattle. Just like bogus Eminent Domain cases that result in campaign kickbacks and immoral quid quo pro practices, the federal government is trying to disguise their crime by saying this action is to “protect” the desert tortoise. But the local politicians in Nevada aren’t buying it.  Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins...

Military Bases Are Gun Free Zones…Once Again, THAT’S The Problem

There is a common misconception among the civilian population that US Military bases are full of armed soldiers walking around ready at all times to repel attack.  On US soil, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The truth of the matter is that US Military bases are treated like gun control cities regardless of what state they happen to be in.  Soldiers on all military installations, including Fort Hood, are not armed while on post, nor are they permitted to carry any privately owned firearms. Only law enforcement and security personnel are allowed to have weapons on post. From the Department of Defenses Regulations: The authorization to carry firearms shall be issued only to qualified personnel when there is a reasonable expectation that life or DoD assets will be jeopardized if firearms are not carried. Evaluation of the necessity to carry a firearm shall be made considering this...

Forget Birds and Stones: British Sniper Kills 6 Terrorists With 1 Bullet

As the old adage goes, it is a good thing to be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. How great is it then for the (as of now) unnamed 20 year old Lance Corporal to stop a violent terrorist attack from ever happening when he shot the TRIGGER SWITCH from a suicide bomber from over 930 YARDS AWAY. In making this incredible shot not only did the Lance Cpl kill the bomber but also the five fellow Taliban terrorists next to him. While this action happened in December it has only been recently made public.  The incident took place in Southern Afghanistan in an area called Kakaran. Lt Col Richard Slack, commanding officer of 9/12 Royal Lancers, said the Lance Cpl. prevented a major attack by the Taliban, as another suicide vest packed with 44lbs of high explosives was found nearby. And don’t go thinking this soldier...

Remembering a Hero – Medal of Honor Winner Walter D. Ehlers

When I was in basic training some 12 years ago, one of my drill sergeants advised that it would behoove us to, after we finished our training, take time and go to VFW’s and military halls and talk to old time veterans.  Those that punched Nazism in the face and saved the world from evil.  His reasoning was simple enough, they won’t always be there to talk to and year after year more and more finish the long march to their reward. While I did heed my drill sergeants advice, I sometimes regret that I didn’t give more of an effort to seek out the old dogs of war and hear their tales. So, when I hear that another of the greatest generation has shuffled off this mortal coil I like to take a moment and highlight the heroism, now seven decades past, that should still reverberate in the...

Justice Scalia reaffirms the need for the 2nd Amendment: “In times of war, laws fall silent”

Discussing cases with students at the University of Hawaii’s Law School, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia found himself questioned with the High Court’s ruling back in 1944 that upheld the convictions of Gordon Hirabayashi and Fred Korematsu for failing to voluntarily give up their freedom and report to an internment camp without due process. Scalia’s response to the Court’s decision was this: “Well, of course, Korematsu (court decision) was wrong. And I think we have repudiated in a later case. But you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again.”  He then went on to quote Cicero by saying: ” inter arma silent leges” (translation: In times of War, laws fall silent) This tyrannical oppression of Americans of Japanese decent during World War II is not the only time that Justice Scalia has spoken on the dangers of usurping peoples rights under the auspices of national...

Gabby Giffords Wages War on the Constitution…Gets Warship Named After Her…huh?

Somehow this little tidbit had passed under my radar when it was first released but Gabrielle Giffords, controller and limiter of American Liberty is having an Independence Class littoral combat ship named after her. Previously it was just a hypothetical name as the Navy had only planned to build 2 ships of that class, the lead ship Independence and the second ship Coronado.  But with the near completion of the Coronado the Navy has announced plans to build an additional 10 Independence class ships with the 5th being named the USS Gabrielle Giffords. The irony that a ship in a class called Independence would be named after a woman who is making it her life’s work to deny the ability of regular American citizens to be independent of government control is laughable. Do I have a problem with politicians having ships named after them?  No.  But let’s not fool...
